Your article got me thinking about a possible dovetail between the start of segregation in professional baseball catalyzed by Marshalltown, Iowa’s own Hall of Famer Cap Anson and the enduring legacy of racialism in small town sports events into the present. Outside of baseball, we saw a big dust-up this year here in Tennessee directly due to the racialist overtones of Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town.”
