Wow! My long awaited replacement keyboard for my beloved T450s finally arrived today and I immediately mounted it. I got a new backlit model with swiss layout. I'm so happy! It's like having a new computer again! โค๏ธ

I've been using the Snapdragon-powered Thinkpad X13s for a few days now in preparation of the Snapdragon X launch.

There are still plenty of apps that misbehave, but the system overall is now vastly improved, battery life is great (8-12+ hours of actual productivity so far) no fans, 5G, super light and the price dropped from 2000 EUR to ~800 here for a 16+512GB version.

That suddenly puts this in a whole different light and I really hope MS/Qualcomm finally fix the rest of the apps.

@Techaltar you should definitely try that laptop with Ubuntu, Manjaro, Fedora or some other ARM powered linux distro. There are plenty of linux apps built for ARM, should be an amazing experience.

After the necessary imports and configurations, I am completely satisfied: Everything's super fast, ad-free, without trackers and algorithms. @arstechnica ahrgh I'm so torn right now... 7 years of updates are a BIG thing. Also, all those smart features really set this product apart from the competitors. On the other hand Google is google (7 years can become less anytime) and Pixels are Pixels (they often have quality issues). Google is also challenging with in violations and abuse of your personal data. Of course you should be able secure your phone with , but you'll then loose almost all of the advantages ๐Ÿค”

I de-activated my Twitter account today. I had decided to keep it without posting a while back, just in case anyone would try to use my handle to write weird stuff and impersonate me, but I realized thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™m ever going back to Twitter and posting anything there.

If someone impersonates me, well, since Twitter has become so ridiculous and toxic, Iโ€™m sure people will accept that itโ€™s not me talking.

I wasnโ€™t using this account, and hadnโ€™t for something like a year, so, bye ยซ X ยป!

@thelinuxEXP I'm exclusively using myself, but I'm still torn about closing my account. I still have contacts there that are not on mastodon yet, and I still hope Musk is going to give up on "X" sooner or later, so I'm leaving my account "parked" for the moment. For advertisement they are counting Daily and monthly Active users anyway, so I'm pretty sure my user doesn't count that much to beautify X performances for advertisers.

@freemo great! I wonder how it compares with which I'm using in conjunction with and under (because it actually supports Global Menus, unlike firefox and other derivatives). It also has better privacy presets than proper.

I admit I've been so busy with FediDB, Sup, PubKit and other projects that I haven't given @pixelfed the attention it deserves lately

I was able to resolve most of their complaints, and I'm working on fixing a long standing bug affecting multiple filters on the WebUI

I'll do better to balance my resources, please bear with me โค๏ธ

I've just discovered a new client for with unique features I still haven't seen elsewhere: multi instance view, the possibility to browse posts by author (and not just chronologically) and a curated list of recommended posts. It's still in beta I think, but definitely very interesting. I'll test it as my main client for some weeks.
