Corollaria Gyroid is a sculpture we created for the Albany Airport which explores the connections between mathematics and the natural world, highlighting the presence of mathematical principles in biological structures. blog: https://n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/blog/?p=9386

The solar eclipse inspired our new puzzle design! It's double-sided: the sun on one side and the moon on the other. By flipping pieces over, you can gradually eclipse the sun turning day to night https://n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/blog/?p=9636

When we bought our home in the Catskills (almost 5 years ago!), we imagined enhancing the landscape with sculptures and experiments we would create. This is the first sculpture we've made for our land.

OMG I didn’t realize projection mapping had become so common that home sewers are using short throw projectors for patterns. So awesome! No more printing and tapping together pattern sheets

It’s really weird to visit a thing you spent a year designing on a tiny screen but now it’s 120’ tall and real

Jessica stands under the smaller section of Xylem Arbor with arms upraised. Her green pants and yellow safety vest match the green panels of the artwork.

This petal-covered necklace is composed of 118 interlocking pieces, all 3D-printed as a single part.

Petals protrude from a framework of triangular panels creating a directional landscape of overlapping forms.

By folding the garments prior to printing them, we can make complex structures larger than a 3D printer, that unfold into their intended shape

We made the patterns with a physics simulation of a dynamic spring mesh we made in Processing. This is the version we had on our website in 2007 for visitors to use to make custom jewelry. There’s a newer version here https://n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/radiolaria

Radiolaria are marine protozoa that build incredibly intricate glass-like skeletons from silica. We are working on an art project generating radiolaria inspired structures and #3dprinting them. Here’s one of our first attempts

hello friends! I'm looking to commission an artist to make an animal illustration for a jigsaw puzzle similar in style to our Herding Cat Puzzle. Do you know anyone? (Anne who created the art for our cat puzzle is not available sadly) https://n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/blog/?p=8637#mastoart

This section of Xylem Arbor is inspired by sea fans. The panels of this region have irregular edges and have a densely interconnected branched structure. They gently bend off the wall, overlapping in hues of turquoise.
