NormCap is an unusual screen capture tool. It doesn't capture images, but extracts text from a selected area of your screen.

Did you know you can add tags to organise your notes even better?🏷️ Categorise notes according to , highlight levels, and track tasks with updates. Keep your notes sorted and accessible!

thefrankring,
@thefrankring@mastodon.social avatar

@joplinapp
I never needed to use tags.

For me, folders are usually good enough to manage all my notes.

Dricc,

@joplinapp I love your 'Did you know' posts! I don't really understand Context Tags: anything I do is either work or personal, so I would have to have every single note tagged 😕

rules:

FILTER THOSE EMAILS, CITIZEN!

Get a stupid weekly email from someone you can't block? Automated crap? Create a filter/rule to mark it as read, archive it, delete it, etc.

Click unsubscribe on EVERY Brand email, and make a filter for "we've updated our privacy policy" those go straight to read + trash for me.

Similarly, manage the hell out of your notifications on mobile etc. I just turn everything off by default, which is usually ideal.

faoluin,
@faoluin@chitter.xyz avatar

@SirTapTap The problem I've found with some Unsubscribe links is that they track that to say if your email is active, and some unscrupulous companies will use or sell that for even more marketing purposes.

SirTapTap,
@SirTapTap@mastodon.social avatar

@faoluin That's a concern though if it's a real company you actually signed up for, they should already know that. Mostly a concern for spam emails IMO.

Probably well known, but that's why spam folders block images too, easy way to track opens

Tip of the day: With the mass of information often found in a database, color can be a helpful visual indicator when browsing your documents. Many people know you can apply color labels on your documents, similar to the Finder, but here’s how to also color your <strong>tags</strong> in . https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20211214-color-tags-devonthink

We recently talked about a free personal time tracking app that we are preparing for release. And very soon we'll share it with all of you. Visually it is mega simple. No complicated dashboards with a bunch of different colors. Only the most important and very functional. We hope this is one of those "as nature intended".

Until then, here are the first screenshots with the task list and timer list. In a light and dark theme to taste.

@mathgum I applaud your efforts. Functionality is the most important thing, but don't forget that eye candy is something most people get attached to first.

Don't underestimate the importance of shininess of UI.

Really enjoying Cal Newport's new Slow book.

It makes you reflect on doing meaningful work while not burning out, following these 3 principles:

  1. Do less (!),
  2. Work at a more maintainable pace, and
  3. Obsess over the quality of your work.

Recommended!

🤔 Why Don't I Like Git More? | Mathew Duggan

I don't feel like I can always "control" what git is going to do, with commands sometimes resulting in unexpected behavior that is consistent with the way git works but doesn't track with how I think it should work. Instead, I need to keep a lot in my mind to get it to do what I want.

I had a sudden "what if…?" intuition for a potential speedup in my bug reporting workflow when tables of data are involved, and… it turns out that it is actually possible.

As you can see in this short demonstration I recorded below, you can paste cells into a ticket, and it automatically converts it to a proper table. It just works! What is this sorcery!? 🤯 What a time to be alive.

A short video showing a LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet with many cells selected, copy-pasted into a GitLab ticket editing form, and the cells get converted to MarkDown table format

gregorni,

nekohayo,
@nekohayo@mastodon.social avatar

@davidrevoy
I just thought about it out of the blue: "Boy, writing tables by hand sucks... especially when I already assembled my info in a spreadsheet while benchmarking anyway… Hmmm, I wonder if the GitLab folks secretly implemented something crazy like parsing stuff pasted from spreadsheeting software. Let's try that for the lulz."

New week, new features on for :

▶️ Read through emails faster – when you take action on one email, the next one will now be shown automatically. You can enable this feature from Settings (“Jump to next email”).

🗓️ See main calendar event details in the invite email itself, thanks to our new Calendar widget.

☑️Check your availability simply by tapping on the invite widget in the email – it will take you straight to the app.

Kdude,
@Kdude@mastodon.social avatar

@protonprivacy Thank you for your reply and the suggestion... however, apparently you're not an iPhone user because they don't work;

  • The text zoom setting only applies to the interface, not the content.
  • pinch to zoom is horrible. Because then you would need to to pan/horizontally scroll through every few words of a sentence to read it. It's not usable at all. (On an iPad this is less bad.)

It's such a basic feature, zooming text to read mail... 😞 this kills productivity.

protonprivacy,
@protonprivacy@mastodon.social avatar

@Kdude Thanks for following up. We'll likely be looking into adding font options within the app itself at some point in the future, we just don't have a timeline to provide for this at the moment.
