Along a canal in Florida a tiny Sandhill Crane chick explores with its attentive parents. Surprisingly its parents let it approach rather closely. I kept it at a distance becaue I was not comfortable with this little one being that interested in humans. What a joy to watch and photograph though. Zoom in to see the detail.

My son discovered these wee bits sleeping in a can on the side of our house. Soon we’ll be at war with them in the great battle for food in our garage pantry. It’s a love/hate relationship. They sure are cute.
Came across this female Red-Breasted Meganser and it’s young a few days ago. There were actually nine chicks around, but this one did not want to play around with the others and instead cuddled with it’s mother who was keeping a close eye on her kids and the weird guy with the big tube in front of his face…
