I started out with a great meeting with the #Vivaldi Community lead and Ambassador lead. Nice ladies. Glad to be apart of the group. Now having to deal with people at work. ๐ Later itโs just some schoolwork then relaxing.
I want to be more active about encouraging #Threads users to federate.
To that end, I asked @nationalkidneyfoundation to federate this morning and bring their good work around kidney disease and transplant to the #fediverse.

The reason why we would love to see more accounts talk about composting on the #fediverse is simple.
You will be able to focus on your area and explain to local people what they can compost and where they can get their organic matter.
You can create a local community that will help your local area make a better place.
If we started this account it is for a main reason. Make people understand that by choosing to compost they can have a positive impact and do something about the #ClimateChange.
So creating a multitude of local accounts that will allow people to organize and make their area a better place is a very powerful thing to do for the #climate.

So ein Austausch ist wichtig und notwendig fรผr eine gute Vernetzung untereinander. Es wird nicht ausschlieรlich um Mastodon gehen. Die Welt von Fediverse ist weitaus grรถรer. Mehr miteinander, als gegeneinander.
Ola's Bhavish Agarwal is on a tirade against linkedin.
People are missing the point. I think the core issue is that linkedin should not delete his comment, even if they dont agree with the contents of it. Bhavish might have a politically incorrect (or correct) take on using pronouns, but either ways its not LinkedIn's job to delete his comment until and unless it runs fouls of government guidelines.
Just a little reminderโฆ I love #mastoart and #fediart but I don't want to rely on the #fediverse , as weโve all seen what can happen when you lease expect it. Ah, it finally hit me. When some of the folks here seemed to have been perplexed by people wanting to both post publicly, but still have some control over who can read/interact with their posts?
That's robots.txt. We just need a way to set robots.txt for each of our accounts.
Several of the major social media platforms - Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter - have effectively declared war on linking to things and I absolutely hate it
"Link in my bio" / "Link in thread" / "Link in first comment"... or increasingly no link at all, just an unsourced screenshot of a page
A couple of things there Simon. How do you know this? Are you still using the deprecated, privacy mining, monolithic silos to which you refer, or are you just taking this on the word of good, 3rd party information sources?
If it's the former, why?
If it's the latter, then yippie kai yay! The demise of these platforms is underway and in full swing - just as Steve Ballmer once called Linux "Cancer", the fact that these silos aren't simply ignoring links to particular resources, especially those in the #Fediverse, and have taken up with the practice of actively blocking them, is a good thing; and you, as a #Fedizen, should be proud.
Yet again, if it is the former, and you really insist on validating and monetizing those privacy mining silos via your subjugation as inventoried chattel there, consider pinning something akin to the following to the top of your profile (make sure to read the alt-text for the image):
@Taleya Thanks for your sage advice. Should it ever happen that one day i decide to create a Lemmy account & begin using it, i hope that i remember this tip.
In the meantime, from my #Friendica & #Mastodon accounts, my OP & this reply now both coming from the former, @'s & #'s do work that way. The #Fediverse is far wider than only Lemmy.
