I'm really curious - where people of mastodon LISTEN to music most?

If other leave a comment, I want to know about your niche-y platforms for music listening.

I would love to get to know more female / nonbinary music artists on .
Genre: can be anything. I don't want to limit it to one genre.

So all tips very welcome!

Soundtoys are giving away Little Plate in exchange for an account signup - it's a good sounding plate if you don't have one, with about the right number of controls (none).

Should i call it a music radio play?
However, here is the
A scream into The Radio Klotestad radio show!

This episode is even more epic than previous ones, thanks to all the excellent artists: XymMusic / @rybson , Moloko, Chelsea Wolfe, Legowelt, Autechre, Këkht Aräkh, YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA, Offworld, Mistral, Hélène Vogelsinger, 070 Shake, Ken Carson, Flock of Nazguls / @flockofnazguls and of course my humble but also epic self who pasted everything together (and even contributed a song🙂).

Enjoy!

How many VST Plugins do you own?

And here it is post-set. I had 10 minutes to set up and sound check (got it done in 15 though I really needed 30).

Anyway, the set came off OK and everyone was very congratulatory.

Looking forward to just listening tomorrow - I’ve met some great performers this week.

Post-rock ambient guitar, piano, synth shimmer for you this evening. The clip is pulled from a just-finished complete song, which will be released officially soon. Thinking about making an entire album of these. This was a new milestone for my production skills. I achieved a dramatic difference from raw recording to mastered track. 🖤🎸🎹 #WomenComposers #PostRock #instrumental #BedroomIndie #indie #music #musodon #guitar #piano #keys #keyboard #synth #AmberGrey #ambient #DreamRock #charvel

The last of the evening sun casts a glowing reflection on the bare wall of the room, through the blinds. The shadows slowly move and a gentle haze fills the room as the sunset falls. Thank you for listening.

Name a popular song that is in an odd time signature.

You're kidding me. It's in four days?...

Yes!

So I'm starting up the recommendations thread.

Please feel free to recommend your own work, your friends work or just something cool you would like to share. If it's on BandCamp it's welcome in the thread.

Friday at last! I have some new music to share this - it's a poetry/music collaboration with my friend Andy Stockton from Sheffield.

The full release is next Friday, but we figured we would open up preorders now in case anyone is adding music to their Bandcamp collections today.

I'm at an odd place with my personal website. Before Dec. 2023, it was a "professional portfolio" for my compositions. Now that I'm interested in the IndieWeb community, I want to make something more personal. I don't think I want to make two sites, but I do still need a portfolio for my composition work.

I just read @maggie's post on "digital gardens" and I really like that idea. (1/n)

I've asked this before and don't think there was as much up and running at that point, but are there any great existing platforms for hosting (and related puppet vids) that also give the option to embed privately or "unlisted"?

I currently pay a Vimeo subscription to have no ads and privacy settings on certain playlists, but I'd prefer to put those funds into more recording time and the videos themselves. Any suggestions? 🙃

I have really started developing an interest in immutable Linux distros. In particular, as a Fedora Workstation fan, I’m interested in Fedora Silverblue. Having having a reliable, ABI/API stable os that is also leading edge sounds really good!

I just need to figure the best way to install DAW host and plugins to get the best performance and reliability. I’m suspecting Fedora Toolbox is probably the way to go, but I’m not 100% sure yet.

Hey Are you ready for coming up in an hour?

The topic today is isolation.

● Do you make or buy acoustic paneling?

● What isolation techniques work for your space?

● Do you have tips for at-home dampening tricks?

● What mics fit your needs? Do you have any neat home recording gear thar makes things easier?

● What have you done or seen others do like that for a home music or sound studio setup?

Pull up a chair and join the chat!

Question for folks on here. Have you uploaded music to streaming services even though you didn't particularly want to? Why? Do you see them as a necessary evil or are you moving away from altogether?

Question for any musicians:

Do you primarily distribute music through your own website (using or otherwise)? What are your biggest concerns with doing so?

If you don't - what would convince you otherwise? What is it missing that would make it a more viable platform for you?

Follow-up to my poll about music listening, I'm wondering: If you like to own (interpret ownership as you will) your music, what type of media is the MAJORITY of your collection? ( no multiple choices this time, you have to pick one!)

This is my thread about the songs that caught my attention. I'm giving my honest opinion for the reviews. Even though I can be a bit critical about music I really enjoyed all those songs!

Good job everyone for submitting your music to the contest 👏.
