I wonder what happened to the (?) donkey I saw having a nice rest and a graze at the foot of South Park on my way in. It didn't turn up at the gathering, I guess St Clements was a bit daunting, what with the heavy motor traffic and narrow pavements. I wish I'd taken a photo.

Urbanism is streets you can get a nice donkey down safely 🫏

After lunch yesterday, we went to the #HistoryOfScienceMuseum in #Oxford. It’s not very big but contains some really fascinating exhibits. It is right next to the #SheldonianTheatre and well worth a visit.

Here are wooden models of the #FivePlatonicSolids.

I just finished my hour-long interview with Oxford University concerning their study of Mastodon and decentralized social media.

They were especially interested in what we’ve done here at Veganism Social, as we have our own fork with custom features that address common complaints such as content discoverability.

Veganism Social’s use case was exemplary of the benefits of decentralizion. Our moderation is uniquely anti-speciesist, and the community has a clear purpose beyond ‘general’.

My analyses of the technological and sociological benefits of decentralization are extensive. I (currently) have a deep understanding of Mastodon’s code-base, and how to use it. I also worked as a software developer for centralized social media, and now moderate a subreddit with 100k members.

I could not possibly exhaust myself of exhilarating insights to share.

Surely, the Oxford study will broaden awareness of how decentralized social media will benefit society.

Next time my wife asks me to stop info-dumping, I’ll banter that Oxford might think it’s worth listening to. 🤭

They’re sending me an Amazon gift card as compensation, and of course I’m spending it all on candy.

Hello! I'm part of a local group of filmmakers working on improving our skills together.

🏛️ We are looking for interesting or unusual filming locations. Businesses, outdoor spaces, restaurants, homes, etc. In exchange, we can take professional photos, include you in marketing, buy from your business, etc.

If you wouldn't mind a small film crew coming into your space for a day, say hello! 👇

I find it hard to believe that the addition of one more platform at Oxford train station will be enough to prevent it running at/over capacity.

I wonder if there would ever be interest in a station at Grandpont (close to where the original Oxford station was, but maybe slightly south at Hinksey Sidings as there is more space there). This would offer more space for future platform expansion, and there could be a light rail link between the two stations.

Did you know that in 1755, after the went extinct, the director of the Ashmolean in decided that the stuffed Dodo they had was too musty & promptly burned it?

This was the very last preserved Dodo.

An appalled employee tried to save the bird, but could only rescue the head & a foot.

Consequently, we actually don't know much about the bird. Such as its diet or breeding habits.

(It's unclear if the story's true. But the lack of remains is.)

I've shared this before but anyway, I used park my van on a quiet village street quite legally, and start and finish the day with a nice 15-20km ride into my office in alongside the river. I returned one evening to find not one but two notes stuffed under the windscreen wipers …

A note reading "Hi there, I noticed a note about your parking. It's not a problem. Please carry on parking. Small minded villagers and probably liberal democrats"
