I’m hearing murmurs of YouTube blocking browsers that support ad blockers.

You know where you don’t have to worry about such things? Host your videos on a instance and use for your live video streaming needs.

But of course you already knew that.

@owncast are any open instances LGBTQ-friendly? My first search showed a strong homophobic/anti-queer bias, which dissuaded me from looking for any more videos or streaming/hosting information.

YouTube on smartTV now serves 2 ads at the start of the video from 65 sec each if you don't skip. On a video from under 6 min :ad:

Not even talking about the mid-video and after-video ads

At this rate YouTube is even worse than commercial TV :nkoHammer: :youtube:

Yes, I do have an adblocker but that does not work on a smartTV and I do not have a PiHole or something running

@stux doesn't help (I think)... Think they serve ads from same addresses as videos, so can't easily block.

Gave up a year ago and I just started paying for it.... 😑

Have got a few of my favourite channels being scrapped by a instance I got though... 😂

I was looking for a 10th Fediverse instance to run, and I didn't have a Calckey instance yet.

So now I installed https://calckey.world 😎

Next steps: configure the thing and schedule backups.

As a content creator, I’m all for getting more money, but forcing users to watch ads isn’t the way to do it… I think YouTube would lose a lot of viewers if they enforced this on everyone, and creators would suffer as a result.

I tried to synchronize my entire Youtube channel to my new account but it only imported like maybe 5 of 900+ videos successfully I looked at the ones that it imported and they looked the same as all the ones that failed what is the deal here

@pallenberg Eigentlich wäre das mit seiner Interoperabilität das optimale Netzwerk für Medienhäuser pp. decken eigentlich die wichtigsten Spielfelder ab. Ich denke aber, dass vielen Unternehmen/Behörden dieser Ein-/Weitblick fehlt, sodass weiterhin nur die „altbewährten“ Plattformen bespielt werden dürften.

I haven't decided how to use Calckey versus Mastodon yet, but I am grateful to have both of these wonderful tools in the Fediverse. I have just joined too at @danwentzel

I'm thinking that my @danwentzel Mastodon account at urbanists.social may become my transit/publicpolicy/urbanism account while @danwentzel will become my LGBTQ/spirituality/creativity account.

I’m still a little confused about on aspect of the : are we supposed to create a new account for each new platform? Isn’t one of the points of , , Mastodon and others to talk to each other seamlessly that we don’t have to have a separate account for each?

Sometimes there'll be a 5-10 minute wait at some popular fast food joints.

In-N-Out's wait can be ridiculous. Nowadays I just walk in, place my order, and chill out to some while I wait.
