If someone's added a web app to their iOS home screen, does anyone know a way to send that person a link which opens in that installed web app, rather than in a browser tab?
The Google Chrome team rejected JPEG XL image support, but the next Safari adds it. Along with, somewhat surprisingly given patent constraints, HEIC. Perhaps easier for Apple since they build support into the OS so no extra licensing hurdles.
How neat would it be if proper #PWA support came to #Safari on #Mac and #iOS. Web apps for desktop Safari seem a step in the right direction at least, I just hope Apple doesn't do their own thing (again)... 😅
The profiles on #Safari look nice, but again nothing new.
The #WebApps looks identical to the functionality you used to have in Safari around saving web pages to the home screen, though in fairness does seem to polish it a bit more!
Today, for example, they released a feature that turns off private browsing session detection for websites. I'm not sure how long it will last, but I will forever support features like these and the indie developers behind them ❤️.
[1/2] Reminder: #Google#Chrome oversells “incognito mode” so everyone misunderstands it. It has nothing to do with #tracking or #privacy on the Internet. All it does is stop history, cookies, databases and cache to your own computer's long-term storage. Same for #Microsoft#Edge’s InPrivate and #Firefox’s and #Safari’s private browsing.
Sites and apps can and do still track what you do and where you come from, both in the real world geographically and when you click on links from other sites.
I have a #HTML page with 500+ <audio> tags, the src files are not loaded automatically preload="none". The page is super fast to load in a desktop browser, but not in any #iOS device. Any tips on what is happening and why?
Just switched to #safari (from #firefox) for my #webdev work, primarily because it supports subgrid (unlike #chrome) and will display grid overlays for grids defined in shadowDOM (unlike #firefox which just says "CSS grid is not in use on this page") thank you @jensimmons 🙏
"If you want to see a flying fox, you have to use #FireFox!"
My six-year-old son, ages ago.
Now, after all this time, I think I'm falling in love with Firefox all over again. I've been high on #Safari for the past year, but FireFox has a lot to offer too.
Small thing I discovered after looking for a PIP Video Extension for Safari. Just do a right click when you play a Video in Safari to enter PIP Mode. #safari#macos

@macrumors As it should be. People underestimate #Safari and how amazing it is. It is certainly my favorite browser of them all, with Edge being in second. I don’t care for Google Chrome though.
Really hate to do this, but #Edge once again made my new tab page open in "content visible" mode with all the junk news displayed. I will be moving off it as my default browser. Really wish #Safari still worked on Windows, because now I have to resort to #Chrome since it works everywhere I do.
And to the Edge team: please, for customers' sake, do not mess with someone's settings. You lost all my open tabs on iOS once and now this. I will miss vertical tabs :-(
