Fellow Mastodonians ...

Do any of you do video editing ... perhaps for a podcast or maybe personal home videos? If so, what is the best, most easily used video editing software out there?

I don't need all the bells & whistles, but will need features like splicing video segments (from diff't sources) together, some nice (not over the top) transitions, ease of use, & good quality end results.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

@carolynporco I've tried a lot of free video editing software but I always find myself coming back to .

Using effects can be a bit tricky to figure out at first but just for basic transitions and editing in multiple track layers it does the job well.

Sometimes it crashes when you zoom to quickly from the timeline but saving with CONTROL+S is instant and restarting the same. https://www.shotcut.org/

Bonjour à tous ! 👋

@amadeus Sadly QT based, but since nobody has mentioned it: I've used for years now for my rather basic video editing needs.

It's FOSS and cross-platform. As far as I can tell it's quite feature-rich. A lot of great tutorials on YouTube etc. :)

So I looked out the window and thought, bright moon tonight. Then realised it's a new moon, so hadn't risen yet.

The brightest aurora I've seen for a long time (the very bright one recently was obscured by cloud). Easily visible to the naked eye, and brighter than any I have photographed before, so much that I reduced exposure from 15seconds back down to 10, and it's still quite bright (iso2500).

Moving 100GB to make space for processing.

Excited to see how it turns out, should be my best.

For Venezuelans who have lost access to Photoshop -- try or -- fre software that covers most of the functionality of Photoshop - no need to license it. For SVG's try (of course).

For Adobe premier: try: Video Editor, , or .

For After Effects try natron. No personal experience with it, but it looks good.

Not complete replacements for Adobe products, but free, open source alternatives are the best since they can't be taken away.
