All the right questions only very few people would really ask (but more should care) in the gravel performance realm. And a wind tunnel to get the answers. Dylan's latest video on his Unbound Setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3yspNTvVPo

Fresh and fast rubber on fast and wide rims.

35 mm wide slicks, measuring 38 mm W.A.M. on my 40 mm wide and 45 mm deep Nextie Premium AGX 45. A super aero, super low steering influence and super cornering confidence inspiring setup.

More info and comparisons between the Conti GP5000 AS TR and Schwalbe Pro One in regard to weight, mounting and W.A.M. in the insta post. #GP5000ASTR

Finally! Working tires. Replacement was very easy on these, compared with wrestling with road tires. Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires, which make significantly less "rrrrr noise" and roll much better on pavement. Plus aren't from 1996.

Good morning. 🐻🐝☕

5 January 2024

The coffee is on the weak side this morning. 😴

I went outside a while ago looking for the moon, but it's not there ... well it's there ... I just couldn't see it because clouds covered the sky. It is supposed to rain today.

Do you remember retread tires? I think you can still get recaps, though I don't buy them anymore. Back in the day though, it was all I could afford and there were times when I would buy one tire. Now days, except for special circumstances when I replace tires, I replace all of them. An area where recaps are still very prevalent, is commercial trucking, because truck tires are so expensive. That is why you see truck treads all over the highways.

Just learned by visiting BRR that @wolfpacktires have gravel tires now, too. Apparently since last march already?

Unfortunately the tire name seems quite misleading. Actually "super slow" would be more fitting. Too bad.

On the other hand: if you are looking for an above average puncture resistant tread or equally good wet grip, these could be the tires for you. Sounds like a nice wet winter commuting tire.

This morning's agenda: Hang out and drink for a bit. Then go buy the most durable tires I can find. (My route to pottery class goes by a bunch of cut-rate auto shops, so the road is undoubtedly full of glass and metal.)

Any of you folks have recommendations for extremely durable for a 2007 Bianchi Torino? Currently using the originals. Three flats in five months.

The federal government is finally acknowledging that tailpipe emissions are just one of the ways that cars befoul the planet.

One Nigerian Entrepreneur's Solution For Millions of Old Tires

We make nearly 2 billion tires every year, while old ones continue to pile up. They can act as breeding grounds for mosquitoes and cause hard-to-put-out fires.

Some countries recycle a majority of them, and one Nigerian entrepreneur is aiming to get hers to do the same.

It's purposefully designed to make economically unviable!

This shit should be made illegal by @EU_Commission because not even ATEX-certified radios and diving computers have that level of designed-in , and they even have fecking valid reasons to not be easy to be opened.

Something that IMHO should at most take 15 mins by an apprentice or trainee, nor 8hrs for two certified professionals to pull off...

Imagine if #Tires and #Oil could not be changed - because that's the equivalent of soldering down #SSD|s.

And it's good that the former is illegal - the latter one should also be banned!

The rules would also cover tyre and brake emissions."

This will mean less air pollution and less pollution. Car makers balk, but this is still better for them than a big push for public transit.
