What’s the upside of updating Linux Kernel to 6.3.1 on Ubuntu 23.04?
So far, the only thing I noticed is that it messed up my nvidia display driver 🤷♂️ #linux#linuxkernel#ubuntu
Also of note I think I've gotten most of my ~110 #Docker containers back online in Swarm. I think I'll probably need to run some of them outside of Swarm since it doesn't seem to support some things like Devices. Excited though, I learned a bunch!
> Last week System76 released System76-Scheduler 2.0 as their Rust-written Linux desktop scheduler that serves as a user-space daemon to dynamically manage process priorities to favor performance and responsiveness. That's now been succeeded by a v2.0.1 update with a few more features and improvements.
Anyone familiar with installing Mattermost on a Digital Ocean Ubuntu droplet?
It has been giving me issues all day today. For some reason, it won’t pull up via my subdomain even after creating the A record to the droplets IP address.
Why do we still live in a world where I can't independently configure my laptop display and external monitor's scaling (100% and 150% respectively) in #Linux? Or is this just an Ubuntu/Kubuntu problem?
Under X11 both displays sync their scaling settings (awful experience when you have a 4K panel). And with Wayland both displays end up blurry, even after a reboot.
I'm using the HP Dev One.
Are there easy workarounds or should I finally make the permanent switch to #fedora?
In other news, I've been using #Ubuntu#Gnome full time. I can say I'm as comfortable with out-of-the-box Gnome as with my built-from-source, very-personalized #dwm. I get people are sometimes pretty opinionated and even argumentative about their digital environments, but I guess I've learnt to Stop Worrying and Love The Get Things Done. XD
@mairin I'm mulling over getting a MBP for the hardware, portability, battery life etc but have been warned by a friend the os is something special. Your toots have been entertaining. Been using #Ubuntu with unity (I actually loved it) and #gnome for many years now, but my portable experience has never been great. On the desktop it's #linux for life, but on the move I'd really reliable Bluetooth and suspend, which I don't get with my #Thinkpad. At all.
Ugh, Ubuntu replaced my Firefox PPA with a broken-out-of-the-box Snap again today when upgrading from kinetic to lunar.
Any recommendations on an alternative to Ubuntu for a dev-centric personal laptop? Apt-based is preferred, but I'll take anything that guarantees I'll never need to see a Snap package again.
OK #ubuntu please explain to me the #lts update process. I did apt autoremove nothing is left. When attempting move to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS it still says there are ~50mb to remove from boot. What is stopping the installer/updater to find out what that is and either move it or make /boot bigger? Or take just a little bit of another partition? Or guide me to mount a temp external drive? Or something else? #floss
