Encountered this lovely meadow argus #butterfly on a bushwalk about two weeks ago.
Neither of us knew it then, but that was the last warm autumn #weather before a sudden cold front abruptly ended the season for #insects and #flowers alike. (Incidentally, can anyone help me identify the blue blossom?)
I love how #nature#photography keeps me humble with these wild "memento mori".
You know what works really well in a rainstorm? Oil painted paper #umbrellas. The oil on the surface stops water from getting through, and the wooden supports prevent the umbrella from bending inside out in a big wind (a big bonus IMHO). Plus, no #plastic parts and more environmentally friendly. The only issue is they don't fold up and fit into a small bag.
Lots of designs out there. Decorative too. Just make sure the whole top surface is painted. If your city has a Chinatown, you can usually find them there. #environment#rain#weather#umbrella

Had a good time last time with #boardgames. We use a cutthroat game of Survive! as a testing ground for new relationships and R's new guy did pretty well. The volcano came up early (on only the 2nd mtn tile) and tied me for 2nd with 11 points. And we somehow kept R from winning. And we finished the night with a rousing game of Take 5 (6 Nimmt). Add in some Cinco de Mayo margaritas and it was a good night.

Beautiful #weather out there today! Sun streaming in, although still a bit chilly. Should get up to very comfortable weather for my entire 4 days off, which would be nice. Perhaps I'll get my 30 bags of mulch down finally. I did find my noise cancelling headphones, which had gone missing for a few months (they were in the car door), so I'll connect those, listen to my #audiobook and putter away in the #garden. I couldn't ask for a better day. What can I say, I'm a simple man. #today
A right-moving #supercell is chewed up by a squall line in southern #Germany, yesterday. The cell first benefited from orographically induced shear in the area of the Ostalb, then later from favorable conditions in the near storm environment of the approaching line.
A good example that supercells can develop specifically in structured terrain even in apparently rather undynamic initial situations.

Can someone come to the Mid-Atlantic and take away the #rain for me? I haven't mowed my lawn in nearly 2 weeks now because there has been so much of it. And my lawn just...holds the rain, so I need at least 2 dry days to get the lawn where it is actually able to be mowed without issue.
How's the #weather by you? Still grey skies here...for now...
I recently came across a really useful utility on #GitHub that claims to be "The right way to check the weather." The utility is called wttr.in, and it's a console-oriented weather forecast service that supports various information representation methods like terminal-oriented ANSI-sequences for console HTTP clients (curl, httpie, or wget), HTML for web browsers, or PNG for graphical viewers.
Here is an actual weather report obtained by simply entering the following at the command line:
curl wttr.in/Edinburgh
It appears to be a simple, yet powerful #weather reporting service. It is also very customizable, so you can get the information that you need in the format that you want.
I've also found a way to integrate wttr.in into my #ObsidianMD#cycling#journal. I've created a template that I can use to quickly add a weather report to my journal entries. This is really helpful for me because I can now easily track the weather conditions for my rides.
