Seven organizations the far right is targeting after the supreme court ban affecting admissions

  1. Last August, , an online platform which 🌟offers grants to Black small-business owners, 🌟was
💥 sued by America First Legal 💥( ), a far-right non-profit formed by the former senior Trump White House adviser .

The lawsuit alleges that Hello Alice’s grant program is unconstitutional, and that it should be accessible to all business owners regardless of race.

Founded in 2022 by Elizabeth Gore and Carolyn Rodz, both of whom are white,
Hello Alice’s grants help Black people across the country purchase commercial vehicles.
Nathan Roberts, a white Ohio resident who owns Freedom Truck Dispatch, a trucking dispatch company,
alleged that he experienced because he was ineligible for the grants.

Roberts filed a lawsuit in August 2023 which argues that he is “suffering past and future injury in fact because he was barred from applying for this grant”.

“We think this case is meritless and sets the nation, and small businesses, back,” Hello Alice executives said in a joint statement.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ( ) responded in February by filing an amicus brief with Hello Alice in order to give additional information relating to the case.
👉“Empowering employers to take voluntary measures to remedy past discrimination remains an important component of our nation’s progression toward equal employment opportunity,” the brief reads.
“This court should take care not to hinder such efforts.”

According to a working paper by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Chicago, job applicants with names that suggest they are Black are getting fewer callbacks from employers than those with names that suggest they are white. The typical employer called back the presumed-white applicants around 9% more than Black ones. That rose to around 24% for the worst offenders. The research team has now named the 97 companies they studied and assigned them grades. "Putting the names out there in the public domain is to move away from a lot of the performative allyship that you see with these companies, saying, 'Oh, we value inclusivity and diversity,'" Pat Kline, an economics professor who worked on the study told NPR.

Asking for your rental car experiences!

I recently had another awful time with a rental car. They didn’t have a promised vehicle. After waiting for five hours, they failed to produce a car with hand controls.

I would like to hear all of your rental car / stories. My goal is to use our collective experiences to drive change.

Please boost, share, and forward! Please respond here or DM me with your stories! DM me for my email address. Anonymous!

Already a future classic, Joy Boulamwini’s Coded Bias. This documentary is already old, but it’s significance will continue to rise, as future generations will increasingly have their lives dictated from behind the scenes by invisible #AI. Schools you can go to, internships you can get, work you can get, loans you can get, how you will judged in court. And they are not talking about China.

Just got the jury verdict in our favor in a case against Alameda County in CA! Still more work to do because we think they haven't fixed all their issues (but the advisory jury didn't agree on this).

Still, feeling vindicated that this never should have gone to trial bc it was so obviously wrong on their part (yes, you really do need to write on a piece of paper for a individual so they can file their gov form that day).

This research studies how the idea of "child protection" has been historically misused as a tool for discriminating against gay men, portraying them as a danger to children. Doc to me: Could you be pregnant?

Me: Nope - they removed my uterus.

Doc: Are you sure? You look young. Maybe it was your appendix?

Me: I know the difference between my appendix and my WOMB.

Doc: Orders pregnancy test anyways

We really need to discuss how AFAB patients get treated by many doctors. If you need to do a pregnancy test on everyone as a matter of course - then just do the test. But don’t waste time arguing with me about whether I know the difference between an appendix and my LITERAL womb when I’m having a life threatening cardiac emergency.
