Why do I always miss cool FOSS events? In February, I realized I could have visited the , and now I am missing out on this year's . Even more annoying: Both are free and are just a couple of hours train ride from me 😒

will take place next to next year.
A small group of folks are gathering to organize a nice cosy family event again. Thanks to @how and @natacha and their teams for organizing the last ediitons.

Orga is slowly forming and it is an early stage announcement. So, if you want to join for orga, we will start soonish :)

Let's organize this in communication with @OpenForumEurope @OpenForum so their event does not colide with yours, as it did this year.

indieterminacy,

@dekkzz76 I realised you are cool, I hadnt realised that you are cool though.

I cant help with that, though ask me if you need advice concerning or the new function

You may appreciate this video I made, which mixes Koutliner with Gemtext syntaxes

As well as this interpreter which can read them combined:

I'm just now catching Andrew Whatson's talk on from this year, and I just can't get over the fact that he was able to implement a working, reasonably fast systems programming language with Hindley-Milner type inference in his free time over the course of a few months. And I was in the irc when the discourse first started, it was probably less than a month before he got it working. I even try it then and it seemed great for something that went up that quick. What other programming languages make rapid prototyping feasible without relying on massive frameworks like or /?

And even then...

Many people seem to agree that part of what makes (& in general) so difficult to get a really effective handle on is that applying patches is a lot like working with pre-processor macros (ie in #C), and that there oughta be a more well-bounded, lexically concise means of code collaboration to establish. But the only work I've seen in this direction is Arun Isaac's tree-diff[1]. [2] seems like a tool that can greatly ease experimentation in this direction, but what other work has been done on this problem?

The end. Thanks for a great conference.

edward,

@anderseknert The conference was enjoyable. Not as full on as . There were only two rooms. Some technical talks and some about policy. Lots of interesting people to talk to.

The catering was good.

This is a direct link to the video since it's not in the talk page yet, but eventually it will be added there too. Now get your guitar out of that closet, dust it off, and make some noise 😁

Wish I could be there in person for 23, but happy to be presenting my first talk remotely! It is about FHS (Filesystem Hierarchy Standard) support in containers, letting you run things like appimages, language ecosystem tools, and more: https://fosdem.org/2023/schedule/event/guixfhs/ It will be super early here but I'll be available online then for discussion (alarms willing).

ademalsasa,

Is there a complete calendar collecting all hackers community conferences?

I mean everything like , , , , , , , , etc. schedules all in one place.

I want to subscribe to one if any.

It is good also if it is crowdsourced like Wikipedia.

Thanks in advance.
