Cooper’s Hawk, bane of songbirds, shark of the air, out on the prowl.

We've got a new visitor around the house. At first I thought it's a hawk, but I guess it's a sparrowhawk. And those are hunting small birds instead of mice. 😩

Cooper’s hawk encounter. One feels kinda small when you get up close and personal with a raptor type of bird. ISO 200 shutter speed 1/50 to 1/70 and Fstop 5.6.

This is my second attempt posting this, my apologies if this posts twice.

Unusual sighting so close to our house. East Tx I have seen hawks like this before but not so close, especially by the house. It swooped in front of our windows twice. Saw it ready to go after a small skunk. My guess with Merlins help is Red-shouldered Hawk.

Hawk at Point Reyes

I was out at Point Reyes to check out the beaches. As I turned down the road I saw this beautiful hawk sitting on this branch within 10 feet of me. I stopped and grabbed my camera as quickly as possible. I was able to get 4 quick shots off before the hawk took to flight. It was a fleeting pleasure to witness this close up. I was coming back to my car from a recent bird walk at a local park when this juvenile red shouldered hawk landed in the grass not too far from me to.

I observed it for a while and took photos trying to capture several different mannerisms

My original photo had too much light in the background, so I darkened it a bit in post processing to really highlight the membrane.

A beautiful young Coopers Hawk, Accipiter Cooperii, perched on a branch, in hunting mode, in my backyard Spruce Tree with the snow gently falling, is searching for easy prey. The Coopers Hawk is territorial and my backyard seems to be part of its territory as it always seems to be in it. Wall art available with

Hawk In A Close Fly By by Debra Martz I watched this Red-shouldered Hawk from the edge of the road, taking a few photos as it searched the ground for prey. It then turned and looked directly into my eyes momentarily, then flew by extremely close as it moved to the opposite side of the road...I got back in the truck, left it to its hunting, and continued to Goose Island State Park in southern Texas for some more bird watching.
