Can anyone recommend #opensource#data for historic #climate records in the UK?
I need daily precipitation & wind speed records for a #gis project in #Lancashire for the last 10 years
8 Apr 1579: Thomas Cottam of #Lancashire enters the #Jesuit novitiate at Sant' Andrea #Rome#otd
Arrested on landing at #Dover June 1580, tortured in Marshalsea & Tower of #London, executed 30 May 1582 having refused last-minute pardon if accepted Supremacy of Elizabeth I (NPG)
Meanwhile in Lancashire, rain is compromising pothole repairs intended to deal with the effects of rain.... welcome to the North West, where its more often raining than not.
Its a classic case of cheap running repairs being a false economy... & I know, I've seen the cycle of pothole, patched rapair, patch failure, pothole reappears pretty much every day I cycle round here!
Does anyone know what a hulyer or hulyor is within the context of a 17th-century Lancashire village?
I'm looking at a list of people who took the Protestation in Rivington in 1642. One of them could be my ancestor. His name is John Darbyshier. The other's name is Richard Hulyor. The occupation of both is listed as hulyer or hulyor.
Labour are going to lose the Asian vote in the North which should seriously worry them (it's a big voting block) but they're so far up their own arses they won't do a thing.
George Galloway, the fuck, like a rash all over Lancashire.
Meanwhile in #Lancashire, if we thought we were having trouble getting a #doctors appointment right now, given over half of the county's GP practices are worried they may have to close (due to budgetary problems) in the next two years.... things may be about to get a lot worse.
Morning all. A lovely day to visit Clitheroe, Lancashire town of history, hills and witches. Here's a new poster to warn the good citizens I may be popping over there today. xx
Another sad example of a motorist getting away with it. Coroner Dr James Adeley said it was in the "interests of justice" that he named David Harwood in connection with the death of cyclist Dylan Crossey, 15. Harwood hit Dylan with his BMW while he was drunk and fiddling with his satnav. Dylan bounced over the top of his car but Harwood didn’t stop to help and Dylan died. Harwood got away with it. No doubt the police felt it was “just an accident”. #roadsafety#justice
@pedestrians1st Of course the bar steward left the scene befopre he could be breathalysed, so the observation ‘The damage to the car would not change, but the alcohol level in his blood stream would decrease the longer the night went on.’
The handling of the matter by Lancashire police stinks.
On my walk today I found a piece of street art which pays homage to one of the favourite portraits in the Harris museum in Preston, Pauline in the Yellow Dress.
Unfortunately this portrait cannot currently be seen at the museum, because the museum is undergoing refurbishment and will only be reopened in 2025 (delayed due to additional unsuspected asbestos being found in the building. #Art#StreetArt#Mural#UrbanArt#Preston#Lancashire#UK#S he awnSharpe #HarrisMuseum#PaulineInTheYellowDress
