Followgraph will provide you with all the follows of the people you follow.
What? OK, so say you have found a few accounts that interest you. Run Followgraph and you will see and be able to follow all of their follows ranked in order of how many are shared.
It's all written in plain non-technical language, and aimed at a general audience. There's a section at the top with quick links to the most essential tips, and a complete list of guides below that.

Folks, I'm posting more topical stuff here as I move away from Musk's Folly, and while I am taking care to hashtag US-related political stuff, not every topical issue is fundamentally about US politics, and I have to trust my own judgment on what is and isn't.
If you find any posts about topical issues irritating or annoying (especially from a US-centric point of view), it's okay to unfollow now. I want your Mastodon experience to be a congenial one for you. If that's without me, okay!
@scalzi Good idea, but also #hashtags are not just for content #filtering and moderation, they facilitate search. It is helpful to think of hashtags as indexes. Indexing your posts by using them makes posts more discoverable to other users and for you too. Liberal use of hashtags will greatly improve your engagement here.

As Twitter burns it’s self from the inside out…I have decided to give this app another go. I have no clue what to do here #newbie#newuser#follow#TwitterMigration#fuckelon
I can't seem to get an icon for either the magazine, or myself to upload. So, we're stuck being all blank for now I guess. I'll chalk it up to kbin being pretty alpha still.
I was having trouble uploading a profile pic. I finally created a 100 pixel x 100 pixel image in Paint. I was able to upload that as my profile. But the 100x93 pixel resized pic I was trying to use never uploaded. Same resolution and color depth on both files. I'm not sure if it was something I was doing, or if it is something unique about #Kbin. #NewUser#ProfilePic#UserGuide
It appears the option is there for microblog comments but not thread or post comments. Am I missing something? Eg. Comments and sub comments in the post won't have the option.
If you’re new here, perhaps from the Reddit exodus, welcome!
Things are a little different here, so follow people and hashtags you find interesting. There’s no ‘algorithm’ so the more people you follow that you find interesting… the more interesting things and people you’ll find!
Check out the awesome https://fedi.tips/ by the wonderful @feditips before you get stuck in to get the most out of the platform and stay safe.
My number one #Mastodon tip for people is to boost more!
Discovery sucks on Mastodon, which is partially by design, but it also means it’s hard to find new and interesting people here. If you see something cool, reach for that boost button as well!
Hello, Calckey! I've been using Mastodon since the E-train derailed over at That Other Place. I like it, and I LOVE the idea of the Fediverse, privatized social, and no F-ing algorithms run by advertisers and agendas. But I'm also frustrated by some of the limitations over there, especially low character limits on posts. So, I'm trying this. At the very least, it should give me some perspective on that the Fediverse really means.
Anyway, love to follow and engage with interesting people. Especially interested in meeting other writers of all kinds, mystery, science fiction and fantasy readers, indie publishing, folks interested in film and TV (especially genre), science and space folks, makers, and folks that know more than I do.
Maybe I'll do something interesting you'll like too. Follow if you want. Be warned, when I publish something I'll talk about it, and that happens regularly. An my wife is cozy mystery writer Christy Fifield, and I brag on her stuff too. I'll try never to be a jerk about it.
If you are coming from Twitter, you understandably may feel like it is a lot quieter here. Mastodon is not "dead," but there is no #algorithm bombarding you with stuff. Here you develop your own user experience by searching out and following people and things that interest you. You can pretty quickly build a much more satisfying experience, but it takes a little effort. Following #hashtags is a good way to get started. Be patient and join in conversations.

How I have been enjoying /kbin on iOS
Just some stuff I have noticed in spending too much time on this over this weekend...

Why are the collapse and expand options missing when I view comments on a post?
