People who know about plant life cycles: what is this?
At first I thought it might be some kind of spider web, or insect eggs, or cocoon, but zooming in it looks like plain old bubbles. Do grasses blow bubbles as some part of their growth?
About one stalk in fifty seems to have this. But it's only on the prarie grass, not the St Augustine grass of the lawn.
so #gutters - the kind that you put on a #house to direct the rainwater careening down your roof. curious if anyone has thoughts? particularly interested in combining reasonable cost with eco-friendliness?
(some initial ponderings)
Could I pipe the water from the gutters and create a small pond (like, really, really small)?
Could I pipe the water into containers to use for watering the lawn?
Should I get gutter covers to keep the leaves out?
Once I get a stable job, I'm thinking of setting up a Mastodon/(Miss/Calc/Found)key server for me and my immediate family (which), but I'm debating on whether or not to go the #Mastodon route or go the #Misskey route; I know that Misskey may be easier to use because it only uses #javascript for its stack compared to Mastodon using JavaScript and #Ruby for its stack. I'm also debating what policies to implement to moderate my server; I will for sure adopt my current server's rules with a few edits, but I don't know what other rules I should enforce and how to enforce them.
Any way to see posts from an instance I don't have an account on? Or at least, a way to find people on that instance to follow? I have a few instances that I'm interested in, but am a little overwhelmed, and can't figure out where/how to start. Any advice welcome. #Question#Mastodon#Advice
Looking to move the family over to #googlefi this weekend, probably mine today. Hoping to save some cash each month. We are currently on Cricket and Mint, looking to combine to one plan.
Does anyone have Google Fi on here? Anything I should know before making the switch over?
I guess what I don't understand, why does AI have to look like magic omnipotence? We put in a question, and this software spits out an answer based on the data it's leeched off of other sources.
Why isn't there an expectation that an AI will cite it's sources like a wiki article?
Weird #question: is there a way to use #passwords without knowing them?
For example: in an API to API communication I (hopefullu) need a password or token. Is there a way to let my application retrieve and use it, without be being able to know such password?
Or: I have a shared resource (e.g.: intranet page) that, for whatever reason, I cannot put under SSO. Can I let people access such resource with a password, without sharing it or even without letting them know it? #askFedi#FediHelp
Does anyone know if there is any way in #Chrome to get #elk to open two different #Mastodon accounts in different tabs in the same Chrome window? When I open two tabs, go to my main account and then on the other tab my secondary account, the first tab changes to match the second. It's not awful, just would be kind of neat to have them side by side as tabs. #help#question
Someone knows any android NATIVE app for neocities? Means - for free version so not custom and my browser (what is chrome) doesnt remember cookies... (already having problem with logging-out itchio account) #question#neocities
Question for anyone: would you feel able to correct a CIO if they suggested something that you feel wouldn't work?
Some background: I've been told face-to-face by the CIO that I should feel able to say to them that their ideas/demands won't work.
I'm comfortably 4 levels below them and my employer is a service provider to the CIO.
I categorically did not/do not feel anything like comfort when being asked to tell a CIO in front of their direct reports that what they were suggesting wouldn't work. Politically, I don't think that would work (side note:contract renewal discussions are ongoing).
