After the 2020 presidential election, as Trump falsely claimed that President Joe Biden had stolen the election, people displayed a startling symbol outside their homes, on their cars and in online posts: an upside-down American flag. One of the homes flying an inverted flag during that time was the residence of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, in Alexandria, Virginia, according to photographs and interviews with neighbors. Alarmed neighbors snapped photographs, some of which were recently obtained by The New York Times. Word of the flag filtered back to the court, people who worked there said in interviews. Merchan is presiding over Trump's Manhattan case involving alleged #HushMoney payments to adult film star actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign [to hide the info from the electorate]. …The case is set to go to trial April 15, 2024.
Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg told Newsweek on Thurs, "It is as if #Trump is daring the Judge to sanction him so Trump can achieve greater martyrdom w/ his rabid supporters. Another possibility is that Trump wants a war w/ Judge #Merchan, which could lead to more attempts at recusal/disqualification & therefore more delays. It won't work."
An envelope that contained a white powder was sent to Judge Arthur #Engoron who imposed a $454M judgment against #Trump, causing a brief #security scare Wed at a #NY courthouse.
…the business-sized envelope was addressed to Engoron but never reached him. The powder was quickly determined to be harmless in preliminary testing. Further testing is being done.
