@AAKL@verge Loyal Apple user here. I'm happy Apple is being forced to make changes. I like the cohesion of the ecosystem, not so much the walled garden. They are not the same thing. We can have browser choice, alternate app stores, apps not approved by Apple, and more open standards, and I can also have my iPhone work well with my Macs and my Watch.
I love the idea that federation allows multiple social medias to intertwine. I'm here on Mastodon, a micro blog platform, and on Pixelfed, an Instagram alternative. Someone is developing a TikTok alternative too, I may join it as well when it is ready.
Biggest issue I've found is I never know who to follow on these other platforms. Mastodon is obvious since all my tech people are here, but I've no idea who I should be following on Pixelfed. Feels like it would be more fun if my friends were there.
The reality? Security is always optional. Always. It shouldn't be, but it is. Barring some major compliance requirement imposed by force of law and jailtime for failure to comply, the big corpos will always cut cybersecurity when things get tough before anything else. So cybersecurity isn't even a very stable job. You are going to get laid off at some point. In fact, there have been quite a few cybersecurity layoffs in the last year.

More like they should rebrand to everything is Xbox Gaming Studios (or something) as a publisher and they have a subscription service like Ea, Ubisoft, etc) Game Pass. The way they are going hardware wise, the only thing people might go hmm is handheld. But that already has competition and likely be about like windows phone or Zune.
