Two very different moss monsters I made friends with today:

A decaying stump, just a hand length wide and a meter high, with a big bulbous head of moss on top, giving it the appearance of a muppet or creature. Various types of moss and lichen spring off it, and the woods all around are similarly enrobed.

I've been learning drumming. Keys so far:

  • Drum rolls with alternating 1, 2, and buzz rolls
  • Practice with a metronome is huge help
  • Paradiddles, also with metronome
  • Build a drumming playlist of songs I feel comfortable with
  • Play EVERY day

3 weeks in, I've made a TON of progress.

Any other tips from you drummers out there?

@davemark Clave. Familiarize yourself with the basic most common clave, a two measure phrase where one measure is in 3 and the other in 4. Practice maintaining a rock steady clave with one limb while the others are doing any other sort of play or exercise.

    @amyfou @CoachMark Agreed. Another angle is that dogs get more tired out by brain exercise than they do by physical exercise. You can create food puzzles by wrapping kibble up in old bags, sheets, cardboard boxes and letting the dogs figure it out. Just have these guys in separate rooms so they don’t compete over the goods.

    @lzg I used to live in the house of a famous and influential Ayurvedic teacher. One of her instructions was not to use refrigerators because they kill the healing energies of natural foods. Of course she had a refrigerator, that she kept in my apartment so her students wouldn’t see it.
