    No, they are not the same. The Democrats are liberal, the Republicans are fascists. I don't know what to say to you if you claim you can't tell these opposites apart.

    You don't have to like liberalism, but you can't pretend it's in any way as bad as fascism. Liberalism is center-left, fascism is far-right.

    Fundamentally, a vote for Democrats means having the opportunity to vote again in the future. The Republicans are running on a platform of ending democracy. They have already thrown a coup once, so we know they mean it.

    Given all this, how can you pretend?! Make it make sense.

    Why is it “an obscure clause” NYT? It’s pretty straightforward in both meaning and intent. It’s only been unused because past candidates (since the Civil War) haven’t been engaged in insurrection against the government or refused to leave office.

    Seriously, if any of you "very serious people" want some advice on what you can do to stop the fascists, I think you entire approach on how you talk to them needs to change.

    You're starting from the idea that these people are dupes, primarily because you are NOT a fascist, so you don't really understand how people can KNOWINGLY choose fascism - thus you assume grandpa has been tricked.

    If you want to waste time and energy trying to "talk to fascists" you need to cut past the bullshit and access what this is really about - their personal profit or gain, from the installation of a fascist order. And sometimes that's not even a monetary thing, sometimes the point is "if all the people who make me uncomfortable are dead, I'll never be uncomfortable."

    Stop trying to reason with them and start showing them dead nazis frozen in the snow, or being rolled into ditches by villagers.
