Day 20. I'm much happier with this takeoff and landing movement. I still have some refining to do though. Sometimes when it "decides" to land, if it's too close to the original position, it circles several times because it can't turn fast enough to face the origin. Eventually the random stops will get it there but it looks odd.

I'm 2 days behind on this challenge so I'll probably be posting again later. 🤷

Looking through some old projects, this was the output of this 100 day challenge 2 years ago. This is a model of the original Battlestar Galactica made in . Textures are procedural with the exception of the Galactica decal.

I was tempted to do the same thing with Spaceball One. 😃 Maybe one day...

@upmultimedia The best part of creating this was I found a blog of someone who had acquired hundreds of closeups of the original studio model.

I didn't do a perfect 1-to-1 recreation but it was really cool to be able to get recognizable detail in there.

    I'm so happy Unity decided to self-destruct! I mean, sorry for your losses and all, but... Not only is getting so much great attention, but I swear it's also driven more devs to Mastodon seeking out experienced devs to chat with, collab, follow, and learn from! The community has felt really lively lately!

    If you're a gamedev using godot, please say hello in the replies and maybe more folks can find each other to follow!

    @CodexArcanum ha! I had to look that up. Lol. But yeah, something like that but you don't necessarily have to have a specific goal (tho it helps). For 100 days you have to do something #gamedev related. Learning, coding, audio, marketing... and then blog about it to keep you honest. I always pick the last 100 days of the year and came away with some pretty neat projects.

    Not doing too much this weekend. I did upgrade my blog server software stack. I still need to clean it up a bit but I did remove the links to the bird site and replaced them with links back here! I haven't posted anything new on the blog in like 3 years. Maybe we'll change that...

    About using Discord for your game community 📌

    I subscribe to many different gaming communities that are dedicated to a specific game.

    I think people make the mistake of adding dozens of section that aren't relevant to the game. The goal is to get people to write something. But most people are not interested in it

    @maxim I haven't figured out discord yet. I can't guarantee I'll be active in a "chatroom" at any particular time. I always preferred the casual interaction of microblogging for .

    while i'm sad to see circling the toilet, it only reminded me of how urgent it is that we finally ditch centralized social media. reddit itself isn't the problem - it's a symptom of a much more generalized problem we've had since FB became a thing in the late 00's.

    i've spent the past week re-purposing, patching, porting, and expanding a great piece of software based on the same protocol that uses, for creating discussion groups. i'm calling it "tomo" (友 - 'friend') bbs.

    some time soon folks can spin up their own tomo shards, create discussion groups in a similar manner to reddit, decide whether they want to keep the group restricted to their shard, or share the group with other tomo shards in a public network of discussion groups called tomonet. completely decentralized private or public discussions without supercorporation bs.

    best of all, since it is based on plain 'ol usenet-like nntp, you can read and post to discussion groups from a 1977 VAX mainframe, a 1984 IBM PCjr at 2400 baud, an Apple Newton, or a brand new phone.

    i can't wait to bust out forté free agent for windows 3.11 and get posting this weekend. 😎

    Learning by reimagining e1m1 as a medieval castle. Playing with lighting again and created some wood beams for the center area. I'm not sure I like the particle effect on the torches but the light looks pretty good.

    Learning by reimagining e1m1 as a medieval castle. I grabbed some free assets from CGTrader.com and started adding some clutter. I also created some torch light sources with a particle system. I added a script to add some flicker and shadow movements as well.

    Recreating e1m1 as a medieval castle. I started the new project today and imported two sections. Dropped in a few light sources and created a simple character controller. Tomorrow I'll pull in the rest of the level sections.
