Training is hard today. Sitting with my camera off most of the time but we just had a small group activity. I forced myself to mask and was the one encouraging other people to talk. I probably came across as engaged and chatty haha

@purplepadma I can’t imagine how frustrating that is. I allowed myself to just sit through my work book club with no contribution last week. It was freeing

People keep remarking that stuff I say sounds like I might have ADHD. So I read a book on coping with ADHD symptoms and I could only relate to about 30% of it, so that’s probably a no. I’m fairly sure however that I do have dyspraxia but waiting lists for NHS assessments are very long (7 years here for an ADHD assessment). I wish I had enough money to pay for a private assessment but I don’t RN.

@purplepadma are you having some peri-menopausal symptoms? That can be.. mistaken for ADHD- which I have but it got crazy bad in the past 2-3 years.

So many people on the Eurostar! Can't list all books I've seen (and could not walk slow enough to the cafe to write them down either), so here who see from my own seat:

  • a young woman with a Daunt books bag ready "Oh William"

  • a mother and a daughter reading "The Whalebone Theater" and "Pumpkin Spice Cafe"

  • a middle-aged man, engrossed in the "Foreign Affairs" journal

We often hear the phrase "first they came for the [vulnerable marginalized group], but I didn't say anything ... then they came for me." Simplistic, but we have actually seen this happen repeatedly in history, where a repressive regime starts with soft targets.

We also often hear "if we don't protect Nazi speech, they'll come for [vulnerable marginalized group] speech." I can't think of any real-life examples of this, though. Can you? Please advise!

@annaleen I’m not an expert in this but- I know when I was taught they often pointed to people like Malcom X who had… radical ideas that didn’t cause the same reaction as MLK…

Everyone on that stage except for Chris Christie and Ada Hutchinson said they’d vote for trump if he’s the nominee, even if he’s found guilty of the various felony charges. When Christie criticized Trump’s attack on the constitution, the GOP debate crowd booed him. Is there really anything more to discuss?

i feel like school would be so much better if it was designed for curiosity and discovery opportunities, rather than drilling, rote, force, compliance, etc

@exchgr oh my goodness yes. I went to an elementary school on a college campus and we had a lot of student teachers- we did tons of amazing things like learning geography while making paper mache globes, and doing outdoor scavenger hunts. I think today the efforts to defund the schools make it almost impossible.

  1. Found homemade lemon scones in the freezer. They warmed up beautifully and paired amazingly well with my homemade strawberry jam.

  2. Scones + jam made it on the menu for this afternoon's Zoom High Tea to celebrate a friend's birthday who lives 1000s of miles away.

  3. Stinky dog got a bath. Now he smells like a flower, and he's not happy about it. (photo attached of sad dog)

Three good things

  1. Run today on treadmill was glorious. Best part was I was very super sweaty and the Stanley cup, lululemon lady doing her walk on the treadmill beside me was quite unsure how to react to exercise occurring. 😄

  1. Ran 21 min today. Feeling much improved, could have gone a little longer but didn’t want to overdue.
  2. I built an entire cabinet. By myself. It works. Followed instructions!

I am hunting for an exact pattern match—"The Blueberry Plate," my 8 yr old niece's favorite dish. She accidentally dropped her plate while trying to get it to the sink. 16P Proximal Deletion Syndrome, another type of neurodivergence in my family, can make muscle tone, coordination, and proprioception difficult. Biden is old, but so is Trump.
But, somehow Biden comes across as older.

It shouldn't matter if a president has some sickness or disability that has no impact on their ability to make decisions. I wonder if it's that very effort to project "energy" that makes Biden seem strained?

Walk with a cane! Stop wearing contacts and get some glasses. BE OLD. Embrace it. I always feel like I'm watching my great grandmother trying to do cartwheels with Biden.

Lean into the elder in elder statesmen.
