This is a find-your-people post for TTRPG folk.

Please respond by saying what sorts of TTRPG things you're pretty likely to either talk about or respond to if you see them.

This can be a list of games (D&D! Tribe 8! Fate!) or categories (the weirdest of indie stuff! NSR! Anything PBtA!), topics (Worldbuilding! Publishing!), stuff you're making, meta-commentary (The State Of The Industry), and so on.

Then maybe share, and if the replies are building up, check them for new people.

mainly and more specifically. I am also very interested in helping others become dungeonmasters via

Besides that happy to hear and learn about your experiences and getting some viability for the great artists in that space.

Also getting more into making and where I actually share some of the many maps I make for my campaigns

If anyone wants to connect / collaborate on something, absolutely hit me up!

I am happy to walk you through this place, get you comfortable, be non-judgy about helping you, and help make this place your new home. I'm gonna call this If others want to help newbies, lets do it together!

Same here for anyone in the space specifically.

Let's not become random faceless entities that just yell into the void until we "hit it big". Let's connect and be social on this social media thing!

A new skill I am learning is to not vent my problems on social media but oh boy the American healthcare system is somehow, despite everything said, still overrated.

Imperor,

@ryanhoulihan That is disheartening to hear. Especially since there's nearly nothing good to be said about it to begin with.

I hope whatever struggles you're dealing with will resolve!

@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

Been watching some older such as Cleopatra from 1963 and Ben Hur.

It's a really nice change of pace (quite literally). Movies are slower, take more time, show things and thanks to the practical effects, hold up well. I also like how "fit" and "attractive" characters were just people rather than dehydrated steroid recepticles.

I was surprised how great Cleopatra was. Very close to the amazing depcition of that time period in the marvellous by

Now on to .

@Tesseks Can recommend it. It is really well made. Though you'll have to set some time aside.

Didn't realize archive.org has movies as well, but it makes sense. Public Domain is growing more and more interesting with every passing year!

Luckily, roll20 keeps improving. I can see the appeal of Foundry and seeing what some people create with that is insane. But I do enjoy the relative ease of use with roll20

holsta, to DnD
@holsta@helvede.net avatar

On the topic of D&D, do you do feedback rounds after every session?

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@holsta I see, yeah, that's one way to look at it.

The regular session feedback with my parties is generally very nice and supportive, which I appreciate a lot, but of course doesn't really help much in terms of trying to improve something.

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@holsta As the DM, not really.

But every now and again, when I feel some players starting to slip or become less engaged, I tend to throw in a new session 0 or something along those lines.

dutchbarracuda, to DnD

So I'm playing about with a character concept (D&D, roleplay, larp, whatever).
And I think the Farmer is a highly under utilized archetype.

Sure it gets utilized plenty for NPC's. Either as dumb peasants, ugly oafs, or old men.

But I want you to think about what it actually takes to farm. You have to be in tune with nature, be quite organized with planning the seasons and crops, physically fit, observant, etc.

They don't need to be brash, or fearful, or bigoted.

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@dutchbarracuda

Yeah, those elements lead me even more towards "Why or how could/would they leave?"

Generally in stories it's the farmer losing everything and having to strike out and leave.

But if they got everything running well, handing off the day to day to their heirs or something, they might seek to find new amazing crops to plant, or even becoming a teacher to others along their travels to help fend off food shortages and the like?

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@dutchbarracuda

I mean, a farmer could make a lot of sense in a halfway static setting, say where the party remains in the same town or place for a long time.

Leaving your farm for long stretches at a time seems like a bad idea for farming overall?

I'm curious how you're aiming to bridge that gap with your concept?

Looks really cool though!

OwenGlasgow, to DnD

I am not a kinda guy, but watched the last night and I thought it was cool that they tried to capture the spirit in which it's played rather than making a straight-laced adventure. Also, Hugh Grant was channeling Boris Johnson SO freaking hard. Did think the CGI looked a bit bargain-basement, and a couple of ex-machina bits in the plot. #D&D

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@OwenGlasgow not the best CGI and stuff go hand in hand. It is both faithful to the older movies and the effects that players and dungeon masters bring to their tables.

It works, it's serviceable and if you allow yourself to be immersed it is great. Objectively your friend Olaf humming an off key Dwarven Battlehymn is not quite as cinematic as the table collectively deludes itself into hearing it.

is fun and the movie was just the right amount of scuffed. Glad you enjoyed it!

I find that a good half my game prep is me cut and pasting the campaign and any extra resources I have into a better format. I absolutely hate when there is information in the back of a book that you need in each chapter. Just put it in the damn chapter where it comes up.
Which reminds me I need to figure out the obsidian linking feature.
I heavily use 5etools for all my 5e adventures for this reason.

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@GM_Ray obsidian linking couldn't be simpler. Well it could, but its easy.

Just start with [[ and type what you want to link it will suggest stuff from hour vault. Then you select it and you got the link.

Add a ![[ in front and it will show the content directly in your page. Great for recurring info you want to add to multiple places but maintain in only one. Put it below a header and you can even collapse it.

For pictures maybe add ![[IMG.jig|500]] to set a size of the inserted preview.

He never really wanted to play, younger brothers are annoying.

But that one day at my grandma's table on summer vacation I still remember vividly.

Had a dwarf fighter and came up against an Aurochs. Still got the character sheet somewhere.

Then 20 years of hiatus and here I am, running three campaigns, having the best time.

These experiences stick.

Azimech, to RPG

Honest question from an ignorant newbie, can you integrate games or at least gaming elements like for unique story structures w/games like or ?

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@Azimech

While I am not familiar with or I do know my way around .

I'd say: Yes, absolutely. If the party and DM are up for it, you can "mod" these games all you like. It's just called on this end of things. Even if it isn't your own rules or mechanics but things lent from elsewhere.

No reason why you shouldn't if everyone at your table or is having fun!
