Tell me a silly/funny childhood story!

I'll start:

One time in Sunday School, the teacher was talking about the difference between humans and animals, and mentioned that Animals had Tails and humans didn't. I let her know this was not true, because my Dad had a tail, just in the front, instead of the back. The teacher was silent for several seconds, and tried to correct me in a church appropriate way, but I doubled down, and insisted that my little brothers also had front tails too. This got so heated that the teacher had to go get my parents to take me out of Sunday School.

Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. I was 10 years old. Put in perspective the fact that until I was 10, abortion was illegal. So, I began my life without bodily autonomy. I had it from ages 10 - 60, and now I’m back at square one, without any. This RIGHT didn’t even exist for one person’s entire lifetime.

Sometimes the way people phrase things is so telling. For instance, telling women they should be "taking care of" their husband and children. Another adult doesn't need taken care of like a child, what you want is for women to be a Sex Mom.

I was weird.
Hundreds of acquaintances, not a single friend, unless you count the guys I dated. Also weird but damn, they were hot!

No cliques for me, unless you want to count the pot smokers.
They welcomed me with open arms.

Nobody there cared that I was really poor, or that I was really smart, or that I didn’t fit in anywhere. The ADHD didn’t help.

All they cared about was my mouth, as in, could I keep it shut.

My mother asked my bio-Dad to leave our lives when I was less than a year old.
He did.

Her new husband adopted me years later.

My Dad found me when I was 20, then we lost each other again for 25 years.

I’m afraid I’ll never know who I am.

My uniqueness.

I used to enjoy being the outlier.

It’s lonely at this stage of my life.

On the other hand, I asked a very nice gentleman if he’d care to accompany me fishing.
NOT a dating situation, just trying to expand my activities safely and in a manner I enjoy.

He thinks I’m a saint because I visit Al so faithfully.

Yes. That’s what it is. 🙄

The truth is I've always been an old lady, I want to go to a bar at 4 in the afternoon, and listen to great music, but it can't be too loud, I want a couple good drinks, and leave before it gets too busy, so I can have dinner, and get back home. I need to have plenty of time to watch Godzilla movies in my PJ's, and snug before my first pre-bed nap.

I was always a night owl.

We can blame it on the nursery in the hospital where I was born. 43 days of 24/7 lighting.

I worked second and third shifts for 40+ years.

At the moment my circadian rhythm is all messed up because I had two weeks of appointments every morning.

I have a slotted utensil like that although mine is much prettier.

It’s not a spurtle, and those things aren’t spurtles either.

I have spurtles. They aren’t Amish.
Long, thin, wooden rod, Scottish in origin, used to stir oatmeal.
Sometimes has a thistle on top.
My son made both of mine.
He uses them.
They don’t make me think of sex toys, ouch!

A lot of small town USA is like that.
Like in my dead red area there are actual “we support our local police” yard signs. (Majority white Republican area except for College town in county)
Huge trump signs. Even the ones that don’t support trump are employed by the local State Prison.

It isn’t even just small towns. My city was probably 50,000 people and the average white citizen would literally say the same thing. It’s outside their experience to distrust leos.

    I’m reading your pinned posts.
    I’m so disgusted by what happened to your Dad, you, and your family.

    My son and I (I’m disabled myself) were the full time caretakers for my husband with FTD dementia for over 10 years after he was diagnosed. We were also his full time caretakers before he got diagnosed.

    I had a “silent” stroke during that period of time.

    It’s so draining to be a caretaker when you can’t even care for yourself. Not to mention the stress levels.

    They built one at the local state prison for the use of the incarcerated Indigenous population in nearby prisons. I thought that was great.

    I hope that’s a federal right because I can see some state prisons that would be an issue.
