Micro horror:

A historian notices that obscure old photos they have been scanning from original magazine and photo collections show signs of being AI generated (the kind of uncanny errors that give such images away, but these are chemical photos from long before computers)

At first it's just a few images in the oldest collection, but each day it seems to spread.

No one believes her of course.

    @dhrystone I have a second layer for my Moonlander with many things, but I typically use it as a numpad to enter a pin for my yubikey.

    @dhrystone 8 digits, easy to jam out with four fingers, while the top row numbers would take me lookinggn at them and making sure I hit the right ones.

    Though dropping gpg/ssh on the yubikey, to using a file/Secure Enclave approach would be even faster, and I could drop to one layer.

    It’s “fun”/“righteous” for me to use the yubikey.

    @gbhnews now I wonder what’s a good way to get your follower type without a poll.

    Get list of followers.
    Find instance names, and sort by how many from that instance.
    Go to each instance, and find out what type it is.
    Stop when you’ve satisfied your curiosity.

    @futurebird this question reminds me of college. I don’t remember names well.

    In the dorms for the first time, and the RAs put our names up outside our doors. After a quarter, my roommate moved out and I got a new one. But the names outside weren’t updated.

    I spent months not remembering his names. “Want to head to dinner?” works well when there are only two in the room.

    Later at a restaurant with a third person, I finally learned his name.

    @0xabad1dea many years ago, I got a ticket to setup a new server like another. I had issues, and googled the error. One of the top hits was by the ex-coworker who’d setup the initial servers, blogging what they’d needed to do.
