How does one communicate in a relatable way that they're basically in a prison cage with an open door? A voluntary prison they stay in only because others are there?

After my last lifestream to the "knip" in Weesperstraat, several right-wing trolls were saying I was a lying WEF shill for "avoiding" the Kattenburgerstraat; the street with such crippling traffic due to the knip that the VVD are demanding an immediate stop to the 6-week project.

So this morning at rush hour I visited the Kattenburgerstraat and as it turns out, the right-wing press are lying.

Shocking, I know.

I would love it if y'all would share with me the kindest media you know of. TV shows would be perfect, but I'll also take books/movies/podcasts/etc, anything as long as it's accessible to a blind person.

I'm not sure how to be more specific about what I'm after, just...narratives where the driving force is kindness. People striving to be good to each other, to better the world, that sort of thing. Stories with big hearts. Any genre.

So I left Twitter for Mastodon, and I’m happy with the switch.
Selecting a Mastodon instance seems to only make a small difference in the experience, unless you spend a lot of time on the “Local” timeline, which I typically don’t. Reliability and moderation rules seems to be the main deciding factors.

So, enter the … lemmy vs. kbin seems to be which software you like better (I have not been able to tell much of a difference). But choosing an instance? Does it make ANY difference besides reliability? Can someone explain it like I’m five? Is moderation done at the magazine (or community) level, rather than the instance level, like Mastodon? kbin seems bigger at this point, but Lemmy seems a more blatant copy of Reddit (which I don’t mind). Can they see each other’s content? There has to be a web page explaining this, right?

Overall federating is a tad glitchy at the moment and some posts and comments just aren't getting forwarded properly on both platforms.
Overall though I'd say that Lemmy is more stable than Kbin.

@maxkennerly It's upsetting to see... giving a platform to crazy people just exposes them to more crazies who will start following them.

Science is not a democracy, its a method to verify what is real and what is false.
If a majority vote that they don't need to breathe any more and they stop breathing - they will die.

Reality doesn't change to insane fantasies no matter how many believe in them.

Did some testing and seems like federation is working much better between and now! Some instances still don't seem to be federating properly though.

Slight update to this... :fedi:

to KBin federation has some issues but looks like you can "bump" it to start federating by searching the instance ONCE from another server.

Searching for this works:

  • thegoldengator@kbin.social

Searching for this does NOT work:

After searching once the magazine /m/ and domain will be added and no longer return 404 errors. For example this now works but would previously return errors:

Older posts from before this "bump" however will not federate. Instead you'll see the notification: "The magazine from the federated server may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance."

For you can bump an old article to federate by searching it's direct URL. This does not work for KBin currently.
