After my last 2 videos, I've seen an increase in comments (especially on reddit 🙄) that my "tone" is driving people away, and that I'd be much more successful if I was nicer.

Coincidentally, I've also seen a huge bump in Patreon supporters this month.

I've had an increase in the absolute number of Patreon supporters, but I've also had many people increase their contribution amount, even though I provide no benefits to anyone who does that. 🤔

I love the moon! After much work and learning how to make shaders I have remade the skybox for Worlds Apart from scratch. As a huge space nerd, I couldn't resist, and made a model of the solar system, so that the sun and moons and stars move realistically across the sky. I'm super happy with the results!

I wasn't quite able to get atmospheric scattering to work, but perhaps that's a project for next time.

@sylan_troh Probably dynamic range contrast on your monitor. When the whole screen is black it tends to compensate.

Also a fan of realistic sky boxes, it's very rare with games and movies in general going for realism 😊

    @marklemley Dear lords... Using the voice of dead artists is undoubtedly questionable ethically, still this is an incredible rendition and hilarious if a tad morbid.

    I take it the creator recorded his own cover rendition then fed his vocals through voice synthesis trained on Johnny Cash voice.

    I hope all renditions similar to this are clarified as being parodies for comedic purpose and memes.

    I think another thing that might make mastodon easier is if admins could set accounts for you to auto-follow when you join, like on Pleroma or Akkoma.

    I think on fuckcars.social I’m gonna make a few topic-based accounts that repost popular stuff / users and then have users auto-follow them. Then their feed is full and they can build a following easier.

    @sam Groups is a feature that that's WIP on the roadmap. I can see user curated groups become a thing that can fulfill this to some degree.

    Figured out a way to make by @rolle compatible on on for any instance!

    Instructions:

    1. Install the approved extension from the Firefox addon menu.
    2. Add the extension from here https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/470753-mastodon-birdui-style-override

    There may be better ways to do this but it seems to work fine. Let me know if I messed something up... 😅
    Added Universeodon and Mastodon dot Social for now but easy to add more.

    I've been using it and on servers where it's supported.

    This may be a stupid question but I wonder. Since it's solely a CSS mod, could it be installed on servers lacking it just by adding a simple filter in ? 🤔

    @rolle Hmm I can't figure out a way to get that to work with Firefox on Android. They only allow extensions that have been reviewed by Mozilla. The closest allowed extension would be TamperMonkey. I'll have to look into how to use that but should be possible.

    Getting listed on JoinMastodon.org would be a great way to spread if you're up for the task of managing that much capacity and such a large community.

    @randulo From my understanding of the AT-protocol that is the idea. It seems to work similarly to ActivityPub with some design differences and a lot of missing features not implemented yet.

    One thing that has me skeptical is how they aren't testing multiple servers or even distributing alpha/beta versions of server software for people to self-host to try and find bugs. If the project is intended to be open source, it doesn't really follow in that spirit.
    (CORRECTION: There is a sandbox open source version that anyone can try from their GitHub.)

    • You can't lookup others favs so use them freely
    • You can search posts you've fav:ed from the #️⃣ explore button on the right sidebar

    Some instances allow longer messages. This depends on each servers settings.
