People of Mastodon!

I'm researching the growth of ebikes ...

... in cities around the US

I've talked to many people who love them!

But also want to include the perspective of folks who have concerns ...

... i.e. about the speed and weight of ebikes in accidents with pedestrians or other cyclists, and the like

If anyone has thoughts they wanna share, ping me! I'm all ears: clive@clivethompson.net

Pass this along if you know anyone else with perspective they want to share

@clive
We ride bicycles on the hike and bike trails. Our concern is that they are fast enough for the sound they make to be no use when they approach (also using the hike and bike trail. They are also fast enough to make the traditional bicyclists warning "On your left {or right} useless)".

I stopped eating sugar three years ago last October. It wasn't easy because most processed foods have sugar as a major ingredient. I quit because an annual VA checkup said I was borderline diabetic- it turned out that the A1C numbers for that had been adjusted since my previous checkup.
It still motivated me to drop sugar/honey/maple syrup/allofit. My weight dropped from 160-165 to 148-150 in about 3 months. Rock steady since.

Celebration by some in Iran. Keep in mind that, during his term as president, Trump wanted peaceful protestors shot and said he thanks shoplifters should be executed.

This is the same Bible that condones slavery.
"Religious traditionalists, particularly those among the Southern Baptist Convention, also opposed the federal government’s support for equality, although they got less press in the early years of that expansion. In their view, the Bible laid out hierarchical social arrangements, especially patriarchy. Government defense of women’s equality was a direct assault on their worldview."

Oil corporations making record profits ready to end democracy for more money.
"Biden wants to eliminate the tax breaks, which include long-standing incentives to help drill for oil and gas, with a recent White House budget proposal targeting $35bn in domestic subsidies and $75bn in overseas fossil fuel income."

My beer of choice since last Thanksgiving is non alcohol beer. I've been trying various, including Samuel Adams brews, but I've been spoiled by my first, Athletic Brewing. The web site boasts an assortment of NA brews, most of which have not shown up here, or, like the dark, are hard to find where it's sold. We just discovered the Ripe Pursuit Lemon Radler and at first I was disappointed that an ingredient was cane sugar, but I think it's going to be an occasional treat.

I recommend all of the Athletic brews, except for the Belgian White, which is too dry for my taste. If you're an IPA fan, they have what you want.
Next is pretty much a toss up. Samuel Adams makes a NA IPA and another that has orange zest as an ingredient that gives it a kind of flowery taste. I haven't tried the Guiness or Budweiser or Busch because I didn't like their regular beer long ago. Want to try Deshutes.
Check ingredients to avoid infused seltzer.
