Is it ironic that Mike Johnson took an oath to defend the US Constitution with his hand on the Holy Bible? It certainly is hypocritical and deceitful and belies his statements about being a Christian.

From Nick Anderson
"Score a win for corruption. Senate Democrats on Thursday backed down from their plan to subpoena Leonard Leo and Harlan Crow in their probe of Supreme Court ethics. Senate Republicans had promised to turn the hearing into a "shit show" if the Democrats issued the subpoenas, and threatened retribution if/when they win the majority. Don't they do that anyway? The decision to back down was a mistake."

I've been on Mastodon for just over a year and this is the post that has gotten the most reponse and reposting of any during that time. My hope is to see some mention of the photo/video of this being used in a courtroom.

"Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has taken on the issue, documenting how “corporations are making record profits on the backs of American families.” In a public report, Casey noted that from July 2020 through July 2022, inflation rose by 14%, but corporate profits rose by 75%, five times as fast.
... the cost for chicken went up 20% in 2021 as Tyson Foods doubled their profits from the first quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022..."

Palm Grove Elementary School Principal Myrta Garza didn't like being asked questions by an 11 year old honors student, so she had him arrested. Texas cops put him in a juvenile detention facility for three days, breaking the law to do it.

Texas kills an unborn child, then says it's not really a person.
"The prison agency and the Texas attorney general’s office have argued in defense of the lawsuit that the agency should not be held responsible for the stillbirth and that it is not clear the fetus had rights as a person."

"...Chris Sununu, New Hampshire governor. He suggested he'd vote for Trump if he was the nominee. Why? Because he said, I'm a Republican. Party before country, see? And he said, this is a guy who called Trump bleeping crazy and suggested he should be in a mental institution. That's the Republican Party right now."
