Anyone in Toronto who can take a 9 yo dog with special needs?

Mac was shot when he was 2, some bullet fragments are still in. He needs pain medication. He's also reactive to loud noises (hard to blame him!)

My friend has had him for 7 years. Mac is a very good boy. However my friend is struggling with major health issues with no way out and has tried for MONTHS to find a rescue that would take Mac. My friend has no spoons left. And the vet suggested euthanasia. This coming Saturday.

I'm reaching out to the mastodon community to find out if there's anyone in the Houston, Texas area that will be holding an exam session. I tried the Facebook route but that failed miserably and I don't trust the exam session listings. Are their any volunteer examiners in the Houston area that can help steer me in the right direction outside of MeetUp and Facebook. :)

Thank you!

Here's the final, processed image of last night's telescope session. It's the Monkey Head Nebula in Sulfur II, Oxygen III, and Hydrogen Alpha. Total integration time: 4.65 hours.

Although I mostly write about cybersecurity, the best advice I can give is to surround yourself with people who love and care about you. Forget the rest. You may not change the world but you can be happy with yourself and the people with whom you choose to spend your days.

It's strange, but I feel the overarching lesson of Twitter was "how snarkily funny can I be" whereas on Mastodon it's "how kind and generous can I be" and good lord I am so here for this change, even if it results in less clickbait and "engagement"

Okay, I'd like to again ask for help with finding an IT job. Please boost or share with anyone who might know of openings in the Seattle area or remote. I've been searching for 7 months with no luck, and am now unemployed with savings running out soon.

I'm an IT Systems Admin with 10 years of experience, a bachelor's degree in IT, and Comptia A+, Net+, Security+, and CySA+. I've worked with:

Windows Server 2008-2022
SQL and Windows SQL Server
C#
Printer/Scanners
Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Networking and Sonicwall Firewalls
Troubleshooting and Helpdesk, both remotely and on site
And many more general IT fields.

After having another very bad week of job hunting, I could use any help possible to find a decent job in my fields. I've had to deal with 4 recruiter phone calls in a row just today alone that keep trying to throw no-benefit, nearly minimum wage helpdesk jobs at me that would hardly even cover my bills, much less live on. I'm at my wits end, and would greatly appreciate any referrals or such. Anything to get my foot in the door at this point.

A friend of mine was admitted to a hospital. 40 degrees fever, throwing up, diarrhea, stomach pains. Tests for COVID-19 and flu turned negative. So, the doctor sent her to a hospital until they can figure out what it is.

They have a small kid at home with similar symptoms, but also a sore throat, which my friend doesn't have.

Any ideas what it might be? Some kind of bacterial infection, perhaps?

BTW, in case you don't know (and as I do know from personal experience), in Bulgarian hospitals you have to bring your own toilet paper. The hospital is under no obligation to provide the rooms with any.

I think it's time to replace both of my 4k monitors in my home office. My HP Z27s is starting to show obvious signs of failure (like flickering screen, interlacing where there shouldn't be, etc.).

My other monitor is an Asus 2834 from 2016 that is still working great, but I can repurpose it somewhere else. I certainly got my use out of it - 8 years!

So now I'm in the market for 2x 27-30" 4k monitors with HDMI and DisplayPort. I don't mind spending some money on them, since I'll keep them for at least 5 years, if not more.

FediFriends, I need your help 👇

I’ve built this little webpage
a few months ago to present together some of the work I did and help me find a job: https://emontheinternet.me

But, I am still uncertain about which drawing profile would be best for this, if any 🤔

I have not built this webpage for myself so I need external opinions. Your opinions (boosts welcome for reach) :boost_ok:

Which one of these
profile pictures do you think would work best on my webpage to find work? Or perhaps it would be best not to put any? What do you think?

Keep in mind that ✱
I am not targeting large corporations with that. I am aware my website doesn’t fit the “LinkedIn” style. But which picture do you think my favorite public-interest and/or privacy organizations would like the best? 💚👇❔

(read alt-text to see each picture' number)

EDIT: I added a poll below for people who prefer to vote without commenting. I could not include both a poll and pictures in the same post 📥👇
