The state of usability of absolutely baffles me.

Like, holy shit, you can't even transfer a bunch of files from the device to another computer without running into 15 different hurdles preventing it.

Meanwhile, every other computer out there: FTP, HTTP and a zillion other ways to do this trivial thing, doable since the 90s.

"but the cloud" - oh. Right. That's why.

Attention Sid users: latest package (v. 123.0.6312.58-1) update is broken. Lots of pages crashing, some load fine for a minute or so, then freeze. Impossible to work on O365 on it. Holding on to your current version is highly advised (until at least this passes!)

was Ubuntu 9.04, which I tried in my friend's laptop while mine (with Windows XP at the time) was down at the university's shop for repairs (back then, I couldn't even service a hard drive crash). My mind was immediately blown by this OS that was so different from Windows, yet so nice. A few months later, I decided to try on my own: Easy Peasy.

Looks like if all it took to "stabilize" my USB WiFi connection was to create the wlan0 interface with the country option to ifconfig(8) correctly. By default, it assumes US, which kept disconnecting me quite annoyingly. Now, with something like this:

ifconfig wlan create wlandev rtwn0 ssid $MY_NET country $MY_COUNTRY up

It seems to work perfectly :D

Funny enough, I decided to just say "fuck it" to my employer's wish and started to use Linux exclusively at work last week. Absolutely zero issues with it, and both my machine has been performing faster and I save much more battery along the day.

is more than ready for the corporate world.

Sharing culture is more than caring; it's duty.

In 2024, with many distributions having decided to end their 32-bit support, playing 2000s' proprietary games through #wine on Linux is suddenly not so straightforward anymore.

This vacation I had an opportunity to re-trace the steps and show how this is done again:

Amazing effort and great idea. Reminded me of the archives that kept of it (alongside Wikipedia and similar projects), but more streamlined and cross-platform. Nice.

It can even run Office365+MS Teams on just over 3GB RAM total use.

(merit for that being of Debian for the efficience, not MS's)

But I guess in the end I won't be switching to Chromium at all. It's just too weird and clunky for me.

No automatic history / cookies deletion, no browser containers, plans to remove adblocking, and too much "let Google in," even if the Debian version defangs it considerably by default.

Firefox, even with its flaws, is still simply better for me.
