So, was in the car today and wanted to follow Trump's election fraud trial, so for the first time in months listened to some CNN and MSNBC. It was horrible, but think we have a new "...but her emails" tag line for this election. Must have heard "...but is that a crime" fifty times in the space of an hour, which is pretty amazing since half the hour is ads.

has backed away from an ambitious plan for innovations in gigacasting, its pioneering manufacturing process, according to two sources familiar with the matter, in another sign that the electric-vehicle maker is retrenching amid falling sales and rising competition.

The biggest problem Tesla has is a PE ratio in the stratosphere compared to industry norms. Once it becomes rightly perceived as just another car company the correction will be brutal.

carnage4life, to random
@carnage4life@mas.to avatar

The news is out that Tesla is laying off its entire teams working on supercharging and new vehicles. Given that a lot of Tesla's valuation is based on their supercharging network becoming the next gas station and their next generation cars, even Tesla fans are confused.

Maybe trying to shore up the financials to facilitate a stock dump. He sees the writing on the wall and wants to fleece the investors for as much as possible before the crash.

mastodonmigration,
@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online avatar

@carnage4life

Just like the cars which suck compared to a myriad of alternatives starting to become available from real automobile manufactures, good charging stations are beginning to appear in parking lots all over the nation. Tesla has nothing special anymore except a hugely inflated PE ratio. It's going to get very ugly.

mastodonmigration,
@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online avatar

@BruceMirken @carnage4life

That may be so right now, but these are straightforward problems to solve. Industry will fill this gap. There is nothing special about Tesla's position.

mastodonmigration,
@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online avatar

@PamelaBarroway @BruceMirken @carnage4life

It is just too big a space to dominate. If you travel around Europe every gas station, and box store is adding charging stations. Same is starting to happen here. if you have a parking lot, you are thinking, "can I get some extra revenue from putting in charging stations?" The competition will be intense. It is just too big for market forces to not dominate, which is bad for a business plan that assumes unrealistic margins.

To this day, what really gets me about 90s music is that “alternative” was considered more rebellious than heavy metal.

People were actually convinced the R.E.M. was edgier than Metallica.

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online avatar

@atomicpoet

Not sure about edgy, but 80s punk bands like The Clash and The Sex Pistols were certainly more overtly political.

An April SEC filing for Trump Media reveals new details on early investors in Trump’s company - including ex FL AG Pam Bondi who owns 100,000+ shares worth several million dollars and her brother advised on the deal.

Am lamenting anew the refusal by Biden to support Supreme Court reform when Democrats controlled the House and Senate and could have expanded the Court, neutralizing the power of demonstrably corrupt Justice Thomas and the justices appointed after Mitch McConnell illegitimately refused to advance Obama’s nominee to the seat that went eventually to Gorsuch. Elected Democrats must take foundational measures if we are to preserve any sort of meaningful democracy in America. #LawFedi 1/

Agree, but not so sure Joe was under any illusions. His hands are tied by the numbers. Think he has played it pretty well given the hand he has been dealt.

The right kept their eye on the Supreme Court prize for 50 years. They waited that long to get a majority that would do whatever they wanted. Unfortunately, it paid off.

At least some of the left doesn’t seem to be nearly as focused on the Supreme Court as the right was. These are lifetime appointments and there is no quick fix. We have to wait it out and keep our eye on the prize, like the right did.

Saw a horrific two Tesla smash up on 101 in Silicon Valley a couple days ago. It was during rush hour with them able to use HOV lane because they are EVs. Not sure if autopilot involved, but regularly see tech bros and gals texting away as they sail past everyone. Seems like a lot of potential for disaster.
