When I was 9, I went to blind sleep away camp for the first time. Keep in mind, I stopped growing when I was 2, so I was a 30 lb 9 year old. One day we were at arts and crafts and i started wandering around and I found a dog under a table. It was a beautiful golden retriever and very calm. I started petting it and was interested in the leather straps it had on its body and I followed them down and found a handle at the end. (1/3)

I splurged on a new-to-me used camera. I decided to go back to using a digital camera, rather than my smartphone one. As someone who stuck to film SLR cameras for years, I've finally found a digital one that has an nice optical lens without paying an arm and a leg. I'm looking forward to taking decent nature pics again. Speaking of which, some pics of the calm before the storm...

Not to be cynical but I bet an iPhone focuses on infinity, dies an edge detection and then dithers everything outside of the edge to create bokeh. No diss to the designers because the effect is awesome but I bet it's a selective data loss/ manipulation approach.

Tell me a silly/funny childhood story!

I'll start:

One time in Sunday School, the teacher was talking about the difference between humans and animals, and mentioned that Animals had Tails and humans didn't. I let her know this was not true, because my Dad had a tail, just in the front, instead of the back. The teacher was silent for several seconds, and tried to correct me in a church appropriate way, but I doubled down, and insisted that my little brothers also had front tails too. This got so heated that the teacher had to go get my parents to take me out of Sunday School.

At that distance and height was the tilt shift necessary? I've wanted one of those lenses but I thought that if you were centered on the building that the shift didn't do as much.

I've never used one so I have exactly zero experience!

Oh okay, without it the primary building would have tapered more at the top then. Do you shift by eye or is there a formula that helps you pick a shift amount?

Apparently there's an ant war going on in my yard! 3mm or so in size there are clearly two types of ants going at it, I thought it was one group gathering food but nope, that's a war! Also that's what a Canon 180mm L macro lens can do in terms of depth, I can follow one tiny ant as it runs about using the focal ring only. The pic on the bottom has the two ants fighting but it's focused a couple of millimeters past them, the one on top brings them into focus.

Okay fine, I don't NEED an EF 180mm 1:3.5 L but it does take pretty pictures of tiny flowers!
