If you were going to start a photo blog on the Fediverse, which software would you use?

(and I’d love to hear why in the replies…)

Any neurologists out there with a background in sleep research who would be willing to be interviewed for a CNET article on delayed sleep phase disorder/syndrome?

I’ve got a young writer who could use some help. Long shot, but if you see this message and would be willing to help with an interview, let me know. Thanks!

So … my ex-wife (who used to be vegan with me but got redpilled in 2020) is now teaching our 12 year old how to cook meat

That’s a bummer

I don’t have any family or friends now who are vegan, which is also a bummer

If you got one, I could use a good pep talk right now, vegan folks :sadness:

It is the right thing to do, isn’t it? I’m not the one who’s wrong?

I finally gave the Oyster Bay disc golf course a full 18-hole run

https://www.obdgc.org/course

Short review: Well suited for beginners and short throwers. An interesting track on a mostly barren landscape overlooking OAK bay

It will be fun to see it in 15-20 years -- the tree plantings look new. It will get much tougher when those trees grow

Here’s my mostly “squirrel scorecard” i.e. shortest tees to shortest baskets — full review to follow …

The gravel road is OB. Is my disc out of bounds?

(You can probably guess which way I ruled)

I’m betting dollars to donuts that whoever wins tonight’s Warriors-Lakers game wins the series

(FWIW, I pay about $1.50 for a donut, so I’m not sure what the expression even means anymore)

Go Warriors!

Help me out here, Mastodon music fans

Back in the 1980s, there was a band called the Dry Heaves, and they were legendary

Literally legendary. No albums, no CDs, just some homemade tapes

They were a cross between a novelty band and a punk band (kinda like an early version of The Feelings)

The only damn song I can remember is Merge Into Heavy Traffic

Were the Dry Heaves a fever dream? Did they exist?
!HELP!

(I’m thinking Mid-Michigan)

Help me out, Oakland/East Bay bike tooters

I’m looking for the best route from South Berkeley to Oyster Bay Park in San Leandro

I took the northern route Google suggested (screenshot) and it wasn’t great. I didn’t mind the traffic, but very poor pavement and lots of debris

Is it worth going down to Jack London and following the waterfront?

Is there anyway to cut through Alameda?

I switched to a stupid iPhone so I could manage my kids’ stupid screen time but 99% of the time I try to use the feature I get a stupid blank page with a stupid spinning cursor that never resolves

Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

I also promise to do whatever I can to sabotage LLMs and AI whenever possible

peterbutler, to pizza
@peterbutler@mas.to avatar

In an ironic twist, my local pizza place uses an online ordering system that (accidentally, I assume) gives free toppings as long as they are only on half the pizza

As in a half and half pizza, with all toppings on both sides for free

At the risk of ruining my “free ride” (I’ve probably saved $20-25 in the past year — don’t order pizza for the kids much) …

What’s the moral/ethical thing to do here?

It looks like I’ll be eating coffee today 😔

Not a lick of vegan food at JFK Terminal 5 (except for oatmeal and I’m not paying for oatmeal)

Quite a difference from Terminal 1 in SFO, where I had a nice vegan breakfast and found a great vegan wrap for the plane ride

I like NYC, but I’ll be glad to get back to West Coast culture. It’s VERY old fashioned here (and I would guess many people like it that way 🤷🏼‍♀️)

What are the best pictures of the solar eclipse that you’ve seen?

I’m weird about the whole thing (it’s a black circle 😐) but I haven’t seen much that has impressed me yet

The blood-red partial eclipse at the Washington Monument is my favorite approach so far. I suspect lots more images will come in over the next few days
