#Google announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers such as uBlock Origin #uBO will be disabled in Chrome 127 and later with the rollout of Manifest V3 (#Mv3).
After two years of development, we have released version 7 of the Symfony framework. A big shoutout to all contributors that made this release possible! 👏
that uBlock Origin post about how to bypass YouTube's adblocker nags has been making the rounds, but it isn't the clearest in terms of steps, so here's a quick PSA:
click the uBO shield icon
click the settings button (gears)
go to the "Filter lists" tab
click "Purge all caches"
click "Update now"
now refresh the YouTube page.
every time I've seen one of the nag popups, this has instantly fixed the problem.
For anyone unaware, Google Chrome is currently rolling out an update that track your interests based on browsing history, then share them with 3rd party websites. The notification page makes it sound like they added a new privacy feature, but in actuality they automatically enrolled you into their tracking system and you have to go and manually opt out.
The #OpenStreetMap Foundation spends, even with a slightly more ambitious budget this year than previously, less than %1 of what WMF/Wikipedia does, but is struggling to make ends meet.
There is no threat a la the infamous Wikipedia ads that the project will shut down, but without the funds activities will have to be cut back significantly.
