Gee, it must've slipped their minds.

The media conveniently left this part out:

“The truth is that my health has been affected by long covid and this has limited my strength to undertake the breadth of travel essential to my position. Because I cannot be sure to regain that strength fully, I need to step aside for someone to be selected and to take over.” (from his email to staff)

The commission highlighted a series of protocols in place from March 2mid-April,
which appeared to show that the government, led by the rightwing People’s party, allegedly initially instructed officials to block the transfer of sick people who lacked private healthcare insurance or who had conditions such as physical disabilities/cognitive deterioration

The interest in calling Covid “endemic” is a need to say “the pandemic is over”.

Saying “the pandemic is over” implies that no one needs to take precautions anymore. It implies we don’t need to mask, we don’t need to isolate, we don’t need to test… basically that we can go “back to normal”.

Calling Covid “endemic” is not just a pedantic need to redefine the stage we’re in with the virus. It’s an excuse to remove precautions and feel good about it. It’s an open invitation to “other” the people still trying to protect themselves and everyone else. It’s a method of moving the argument from the practical “should we continue taking precautions” to nothing more than ivory tower semantics.

Covid is still dangerous, no matter what we call it. Implying it’s not is a dangerous practice.

It's amazing reading all these nytimes and other articles saying "Why are so many kids absent from school nowadays? Must be a new culture of laziness. Probably lockdowns. Or phones. We definitely didn't give a generation Long Covid, because that's not something we're permitted to discuss."

VeeRat,

@Geoffberner These kids who they claimed were super depressed from lockdowns and not being able to see other kids, now they are suddenly too lazy to go see the other kids. 🙄

As Awareness Month draws to a close, we’re reminded that the growing number of people with Long Covid deserve safety and solidarity year round. A thank you to @wanderingkayli (she/her) for sharing her story:

“A single COVID infection completely upended my life two years ago by disabling me with Long COVID. This is happening to millions and yet public health is not treating COVID with the seriousness it deserves and preventing infections in all healthcare settings. I haven’t seen a dentist in so long because I keep hearing people getting reinfected there. COVID isn’t seasonal, and unless everyone is wearing a mask if they can do so, my vulnerable family members and I can’t safely access healthcare. In an ongoing airborne pandemic, the more masked up, the better – we all share the same air, and we should be preventing healthcare-acquired infections year round. Everyone is at risk of Long COVID and post-COVID damage, not just the disabled and/or immunocompromised. It’s also not sufficient to merely wear baggy surgical masks where aerosols get through! Let’s follow the science.”

👉 Tell BC gov to and strengthen protections: https://donoharmbc.ca/vulnerability-isnt-seasonal/ We want to send as many messages as possible by April 1 because last year, they discarded masks in healthcare in early April.

@C19LAP Promoting Facebook as a safe environment to discuss personal health is deeply irresponsible.

FB's real name policy, combined with their long history of abusing and selling personal data (including to health insurers) puts people at risk.

FB may be an easy place to set up a group, but it is the wrong place.

Greetings Fediverse. I'm a cottage baker located in Piffard, NY just south of Rochester. Started this account to promote my bakery.

This will be my space for posting about new items I'm working on, the disasters that happen as I'm working on them, what I already offer as tried and true products, and all other things relevant to my bakery activities.

As I'm a cottage baker, I do not have a store front. I can only offer deliveries of my home baked goodness to my home area.

Can I reiterate that David Putrino called an existential threat on the level of climate change, or that AJ Leonardi said in 2020 that if nothing were done to contain it, it could end civilization?

Or that the four horsemen are a metaphor for the stages a collapsing empire goes through, and that we have rolled over for horseman 1?

SARSCoV2, unchecked, is an attack on our very immune systems, the setup for the endless illness all around us. Next, the empire wars with itself, then starves

It's pretty straightforward.

You get the Minimizers to tell you the risks for SARS2 are now low.

Then you get the Economizers to tell you that "Assisted Dying" is normal and okay.

Then you're dead.🥳

Is there a commonly used technical term for when an entire population is clinically-to-subclinically immune dysregulated and serving as incubators, an evolutionary breeding ground for more virulent and/or transmissive strains of commonly encountered secondary and opportunistic infections ?

I know the slang term ("we're effed"), just wondering if there's a specific technical term people are using to summarize the putative phenomenon.

I’ve had two doctors mention to me this past week the importance of maintaining good brain health to avoid dementia and Parkinsons-yet neither one mentions avoiding Covid. One was surprised I’ve avoided it this long and didn’t understand how I could maintain that since it’s everywhere.

What am I missing? Why isn’t Covid in their discussions for brain health (and Parkinsons)?

In an era of gross COVID mismanagement and public health annihilation -- total defeat and capture by Koch and the funders of McKinsey, Brownstone, etc., we all must be our own best advocates, and doctors need to get used to that or be questioned on their poor airborne hygiene.
