Hey friends!

The weather forecast today was "a lot of rain". In the morning it had changed to "rain from 3pm".so we decided to do a small hike on the local .

In the photos you see a couple of impressions from our 3h activity. It was really the best decision to go out.
We just returned, had a coffee are relaxing on the couch and the rain and thunder just started rolling over us.

Stream running through woods. Uphill it was dried out, but here there are small patches of water with moss and plants thriving

Back from an amazing hike. Did the big round across the Soierngroup mountains from Signalkopf to Soiernspitze, depending on how you count it 5 summits or so.

Was the first time in this group for me as well, but well worth it, nice views, a lot of chamois. Really can recommend it!
And you might also enjoy the Jägerstieg I took on the way back, lots of water, waterfalls, lush green, definitely some photo opportunities.

Excellent hike today. Saw some nice flowers, a huge clump of Jack in the Pulpit (really fascinating plant), lots of cliffs, a waterfall, and got to do some climbing up a rock wall to a little cavey area.

A lot of the hike was under a ridgeline with high cliffs. In this photo a man in a blue shirt is standing way in the distance. A rock ceiling is sticking out over his head then undercut so there's a big open area underneath

Ranger Sarah spots the first set of Petroglyphs. These where made between 400-700 years ago. Stone chisels and hammerstones were used to chip away the desert varnish on the rock to expose the lighter color underneath.

Das ist ja auch der Zweck des Bieres: Die Säure bricht die harten Fasern und der Dampf gibt Feuchtigkeit und sorgt für schonendes Garen.

Für richtiges Bieraroma muss man schon mit damit marinieren.

Lovely hike this morning in the foothills. Birds were singing like crazy in the riparian areas,

A bird called a Yellow-breasted Chat is perched on a bitterbrush shrub with small yellow flowers. It has a yellow belly and throat. Its back, wings, head and tail are gray. It has a bold white line above its eye.

Avalanche Peak part three: the way down. Quite cruisy through Scott's track, watching this crazy Devils Punchbowl waterfall that was definitively worth a peek, despites the extra hiking time at the end of the walk. Absolutely mesmerising, one of the most beautiful waterfall I saw in Aotearoa.

A walk in the woods. The forest along the C&O Canal National Park at Great Falls is a mix of new and old growth trees. I was amazed at how large many of the trees are along the Gold Mine Loop Trail. We saw three white tailed deer, a few birds and somewhere in the distance the hollow sound of a Pileated Woodpecker hammering against a tree echoed across the forest.

Widok na jezioro w burzową pogodę. Na wodzie widać spore fale, ma stalowoniebieski kolor. Niebo jest ciężkie, błękitnobiałe z licznymi chmurami. Pośrodku z trudem przebija się słońce, tworząc na wodzie pas lekkiej bieli. Na horyzoncie widać odległą linię lasu, z ledwie widocznymi zabudowaniami gdzieniegdzie.
Linia drzew rosnących wzdłuż drogi z kostki brukowej. Drzewa mają grube pnie, które nagle ucinają się na wysokości około 1–1,5 m, i w tym miejscu wychodzą z nich kłęby gałęzi, gęsto porośniętych zielonymi liśćmi. Poniżej wysoka, zielona trawa; powyżej pochmurne, błękitnobiałe niebo.
Toaleta zbudowana z jasnych, poziomych desek. Składa się z dwóch kabin, zamykanych drzwiami zbitymi z pionowych desek. Jedne i drugie drzwi mają wyłamane skrajne deski, przez co z prawej stronie widać plastikowy sedes. Drzwi są zabite w poprzek ciemniejszymi deskami, sugerując nieczynność toalet. Na lewych mieści się złoty piktogram wózka inwalidzkiego, na prawych przedzielonej pionową linią figurki kobiety i mężczyzni. Na górze płaski dach, pokryty papą, poniżej brązowa, plastikowa rynna. Za budynkiem widać drzewa.

Got in 3-plus miles before the rain got serious this morning, took a few snaps, including a cedar waxwing, downy woodpecker and two young bucks.

A small woodpecker upside-down on a tree, its breast is buff gray and back and head mostly black with white spots and patches around the eye that is visible. Fairly short beak for woodpecker.
Two tan-colored deer, one with a dark tail showing above a white rump, are walking on a paved path past a park bench. Both have velvet antlers, one's pair is beginning to branch and the other's are just short stubs. Their black hooves are pointed and look dainty, but they're not.
