A Children's play area called the "shrimp farm" with pictures of happy dancing anthropomorphic shrimp eating non anthropomorphic shrimp on the walls. The ball pit tastes like shrimp, the nets and slide tastes like shrimp. The whole place tastes like shrimp. It's a feature.
The thing I like least about the recent wave of inflation is having to now forensically check every cafe/restaurant menu to decide whether I can afford to eat there. Never really had to do that before. But prices are soaring while my freelance income remains much the same.
In 12+ years in Japan, it's my first time in a Saizeriya. A very weird place, indeed, for this European.
For people not in Japan, it's a chain of "Italian" restaurants that also have other kinds of "European" dishes.

@kauer A lot of them now do that so they can charge you a no-show fee; something like $30 per person. I understand why they do it, but I don't like it much.

Die Mehrweg”pflicht” ist leider vor ihrer Einführung komplett aufgeweicht worden. Läden müssen Mehrwegbehälter anbieten, können aber weiterhin Einweg rausgeben. Also steht bei den meisten ein kleines Schild, dass sie natürlich auch MW haben, aber das wars dann, die Verpflichtung ist somit erfüllt. Danke für gar nichts, letzte CDU-Regierung.
It turns out my worries about eating at "the fifth best restaurant in Sheridan" were unnecessary.
It's clean, the people are very nice and the food is quite good. We had the vegetarian breakfast burritos and Mrs. Miasma says the hot cider was killer-bee.
If you find yourself in Sheridan, the Midtown Cafe is a very nice place to have some breakfast.

Kennt jemand von euch ein Restaurant in #Mönchengladbach 🇩🇪 oder näherer Umgebung, das am 24.12. auf hat? Ich habe schon viel rumtelefoniert, aber alle scheinen geschlossen zu haben.

Ich kenne nur 1 Biersorte Spelunken. ZB die Prager Bierstube in der Karl Marx. Obwohl die eher keine Spelunke ist. Bier darf gegenüber einem Essen nie unterschätzt werden!
Okay, trying the marginal Mexican place with the large tantalizing menu again. Hope this batch of stuff is better. Last try there was one great item and a bunch of mediocre things.
Wouldn't usually try so hard to like a place but am hopeful there are a few items they're good at. #restaurants
Ende 2023 steigt die Mehrwertsteuer in der Gastronomie wieder auf 19 Prozent. Die Branche warnt vor Schließungen und steigenden Preisen. Für das ZEW gibt es aber keine Rechtfertigung für eine dauerhafte Subventionierung.
@Ihazchaos@tagesschau Ja, dee Steuersatz von 7% heißt nicht umsonst ermäßigter Mehrwertsteuersatz. Subventioniert wird das, worauf der ermäßigte Steuersatz gilt
@tagesschau Endlich wird das mal angesprochen. Ich sehe das ganz genauso. Ein Restaurantbesuch ist Luxus. Von daher kann die Gastronomie froh sein, wenn kein Luxussteuersatz gezahlt werden muss. 12% bei 20€ pro Person sind auch gerade mal 2,40€, die der Kunde mehr zahlen muss. Das wird ja wohl kaum jemanden vom Restaurantbesuch abhalten.
