Migrant crossings on the #US - #Mexico#border have dropped significantly in the first 3 months of the year, acc/to official figures, from a peak of 301,981 in Dec to under 200,000 a month from Jan - Mar. That could ease political pressure on #POTUS#Biden, but #Republicans are likely to continue attacking him by pointing out that border crossings remain relatively high.
#Trump at a rally in Waukesha, #Wisconsin, again contended without evidence that the #protests at college campuses over the #war in #Gaza were an effort by the left to distract attention from the surge of migrants at the #border. “Some people are saying they do the colleges so they can get your eyes off the border,” he said, repeating an assertion that he made on social media last night.
Any Texan, in particular, can cast propaganda aside and simply look around to see that our state is built, maintained, and improved every day by unauthorized workers.

Americans, we must ensure the senate moves quickly to approve/finalize.
It’s crucial to understand that the Republicans had the opportunity to pass the bipartisan national security bill, already approved in the Senate. However, they were UNWILLING to do so for six months. They unnecessarily introduced multiple bills, causing further delays in the aid to Ukraine. This must go through the Senate, even though the Senate had already approved a bill that included national security. The Republicans removed the #border security from the bill. Removing billions #potus had for CBP and CBP wanted this badly! Keep this manipulation in mind.

But every Democrat on the panel stepped in to save it in extraordinary breach of custom.
The #FarRightlawmakers won their seats on the #RulesCommittee as part of a deal made by fmr speaker #KevinMcCarthy, who haggled w/ #ultraconservatives opposing his leadership & only agreed to back him after he gave them critical leverage. They refused to support the measure to bring up the #aid package bc it wouldn’t allow a vote on #extremism#border security they prioritize over #Ukraine.
