I know that here on Mastodon there are plenty of lefties, socialists, anarchists, etc., and their viewpoints are certainly worthy of consideration and discussion.

But I hope everyone keeps in mind that a number of these people are not who they seem to be.

My rule of thumb is that, if they just spew anti-Biden mumbo-jumbo, without any logic or intelligent thought, they are probably working to get trump elected, and are NOT on the left.

The live audio for the oral arguments can be found here: https://www.supremecourt.gov/oral_arguments/live.aspx

They will begin at 10:00 a.m. EST, or for those who are more civilized folk: 9:00 a.m. CST.

Here we go … (in 30 minutes)!

Well, a good source on Mastodon for this kind of thing is Laffy @GottaLaff.

HEY, LEFTIES. LISTEN UP.

Guy I knew had a phrase, "can't stand prosperity." It refers to people who can't take good news, who have to turn it into bad news.

That's a lot of you. STOP IT.

See link. Is this a complete victory? No. Is it a step? Yes.

The response of a lot of lefties is "that's not perfect so it's shit, and you're shit for being happy about it." Not those exact words, but close, and it's exactly the attitude.

If that's not what you mean you react that way, then here's the correct response:

"Fuck yeah! Now let's make them do [the next step]."

Because "that's shit and you're wrong for being happy?" THAT'S NOT ANALYSIS, THAT'S SELF-SABOTAGE AND AIDING THE ENEMY.

STOP.

Here are the real results out of Iowa.

I realize this is no joke. I am not an idiot. Of course, these are infuriating times here in the US and elsewhere.

That said, we need levity where we can get it these days so...

Do you have a pet you would like to nominate for Speaker of the House?😀

Feel free to boost after you reply with your nominee and why they would be the best choice for Speaker. Extra credit for pics!

Inspired by an exchange between @StillIRise1963 and @ehren, this is a call for (short) stories about how you have coped with loved ones lost to and . When your loved ones fell for and lies, what did you do? Were you able to stay connected? Were you able to understand and address the underlying issues? Success stories of bringing people back from their alternate reality are especially welcome.

So, this very cool!

Just in time for the 2024 election cycle, Indivisible @indivisibleteam, has shuttered their Twitter account and relocated their social media presence to Mastodon.

With the goal of building a broad coalition of voters that support Democratic candidates to eliminate the filibuster, codify Roe, pass democracy reform and unrig the courts, Indivisible aligns well with Mastodon values.

Indivisible had more than 250K followers on Twitter. Let's welcome them here!

On Nov. 27, 1978, the late Dianne Feinstein, then the 45-year-old president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and two-time failed mayoral candidate called a press conference to announce her retirement.

That afternoon, a supervisor killed Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.

Feinstein handled the moment with poise, and went on to serve 9 years as mayor and 3 decades in the U.S. Senate.

When the Republicans finally get around to selecting a new speaker, maybe the winner should take the oath of office using a copy of The Lord of The Flies instead of the Bible. Seems to me a book about squabbling children would be most appropriate.

Hey... Mike Johnson didn't -actually- say that all women have a "duty" to birth at least one child...

He said there could have been more "able-bodied workers" in the economy to "cover the bases" of Social Security and Medicaid if they hadn't been aborted in his lifetime.

Oh my goodness, I knew he had a heart after all...
