Fuck you, Mozilla. No one is asking for AI in Firefox. Sadly, you’re the best we can hope for under capitalism. So if we want something better, we should look into alternative models.

State of the Web, circa 2023:

“Would you like to use the browser by Company X, or the browser by the company that survives on half-a-billion dollars a year from Company X, or the browser by the company that gets paid an estimated $20 billion a year by Company X even though it can survive without it?”

We desperately need a web browser by an independent organisation funded by EU taxpayer money and maintained for the common good.

Google is trying to put the web in a cage in the same way they put your devices in a cage (Android, ChromeOS).

There’s one really easy, simple and efficient way to fight them: uninstall Chrome/Chromium, use

Do it. Now.

– But I prefer Chrome because of…

If you are not ready to sacrifice a little comfort (so little, Firefox is great) to save the web, then you don’t deserve a free web anyway. You are part of those killing it.

Remove Chrome. Install Firefox.

Chrome genuinely has nothing to offer over Firefox. If your website doesn't work in Firefox then I'm not using your website.

Just like our software, the current (and yes, beloved) Thunderbird logo has seen small, iterative improvements throughout the last 20 years. But now the software is evolving into something more modern, and we believe it deserves a fresh logo that properly represents this revitalization.

Google announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers such as uBlock Origin will be disabled in Chrome 127 and later with the rollout of Manifest V3 ().

The new manifest will prevent using custom filters and stops on demand updates of blocklist. Only authorized updates to browser extension will be allowed in the future, which mean an automatic win for Google in their battle to stop YouTube .

is deceitful and threatening to your privacy, and now is a good time to switch to (@mozilla) and/or (@torproject) if you haven't done so already!

Starting with version 116, #Firefox will drop support for macOS versions prior to 10.15 as well as Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. This has understandably annoyed a few users so let me explain why we're taking this step: the maintenance burden of supporting several versions of each platform is very significant. I'll show you how much by citing three platform-specific bugs I've worked on over the past two years. 🧵 1/13

Dear @mozilla
Please, please, please put the RSS indicator back in Firefox.

People need to know about this technology which empowers users over greedy, controlling corporations.

Update: As many have pointed out, you can use @thunderbird as an RSS feed reader, and there are many add-ons to restore the RSS indicator (one of which I'm already using). But my point is that Firefox needs to lean into RSS as an answer to all the crap that is the modern web, and help educate users about it

Why @firefox is not implementing this UI by default and why none of the Firefox-derived web browsers implementing this.

I somehow managed to build this, but its not prefect.

Since I've seen a lot of chatter about people switching to as Google ramps up the enshitification of , let me tell you about a killer feature for people who (a) need multiple accounts on the same websites (eg. devs) or specifically (b) have to use multiple Google accounts.

Firefox has an official addon called Multi Account Containers that lets you trivially set up color coded tabs that have separate sets of cookies. Log into your dev account in one, and your test account in another. Log into your personal in one and have another tab next to it with your work Gmail. I'm actually not signed in to any Google accounts in most my tabs, I just have containers for the specific tasks I do on Google products.

It'll take you 30 seconds to set up.

Osobna karta -> osobny profil , , , itd. itp.

Sporo mi to uprościło i pozwoliło zaoszczędzić ram i cpu, bo pracuję w 1 browserze a nie w 8. No i wszystkie "trollkonta" w jednym miejscu mam 😉

Może i tobie przypasuje?🤔

had to take an actual photo of my laptop's screen because i can't get a screenshot of it with the Mastodon deck search field tab exposed.

am kinda frustrated with the issues i've had with the platform. no matter what i tried, i could not properly perform a search... because i couldn't register correctly what i was seeing in that exposed tab.

where it not for the extension, i would have ditched Mastodon a long time ago.

If you’re switching to , remember Firefox is not private by default. Consider the fork, which is. Otherwise, go into your settings and adjust its tracking features (like having as the default search engine), turn off telemetry, “experiments”, etc.

(Also, if you all switch and Google goes bankrupt, will go bankrupt too because they exist thanks to half a billion dollars a year from Google. So remember Google must survive for Mozilla to survive.)

Disappointed to see that is still broken on arm64 (on 4). It was working so well on 13.1, and now it segfaults and dumps the core upon launch, unable to launch any pages.

The worst part is that Firefox is the only modern browser packaged for that architecture, meaning that even if I bit the bullet to use (barf) Chromium, it's not there in the repositories.

And to think that FreeBSD once was the best OS on the Pi for me. Now it's basically useless :(
