I love my smart TV. I love the way it takes a long time to boot up because it's trying to refresh the advertisements on the home screen. I delight in the way it randomly restarts because it's downloaded an update without asking me, each of which makes the TV slower and slower with every subsequent install. I adore the way it buries the apps that I want to use, and that I use without fail every single time, below the apps that it's being paid to promote and which I have never touched in my life and would never use without the cold metal of a glock pressed hard against my sweating temple. I am infinitely thrilled by the way the interface lags constantly, due to the need to have one thousand unnecessary animations rendered on hardware ripped wholesale from a ten year old phone. I feel myself borne aloft on wings of pure joy when I am notified that my data will be collected and analysed to determine my useage patterns. Even now I am writing this from a field of beautiful flowers and soft luscious grass as I lie and look up happily at the bright blue sky, smiling happily to know that this is the future of technology
Shared #Blocklists are an essential tool in an area where even an imperfect tool is better than no tool at all and makes things measurably safer.
Errors in shared blocklists and inadequate tooling around blocklists has a long, long history of disproportionately hurting trans people in general and transfemmes in particular in ways that have proven repeatedly to be difficult to recover from. This can and has made things less safe in several real world cases
Part of the challenge on the #fediverse in general and #mastodon in specific is that #blocklists are both more essential and errors in them more damaging to communities, not just individuals.
On twitter if you block a person, even a person and their followers, you are a lot less likely to hit their entire community than here.
I applaud those seeking solutions to this. Those who are trying to thread the needle. Even where they screw up or have differing priorities, this is important work.
@technocounselor Merry Apple Christmas to you, T. J. and everyone here on #Mastodon. I can't wait to see what we get, and we will be streaming 30 minutes before the fun.
New handmade works ☺️
Super grateful for reblogs. I'll be away for two weeks from Saturday and want to send as many handmade works as I can before I'm away. Everything on my shop is 30% off for 2 more days, if you see anything you like or if you'd like to help me reach new souls with handmade works, you can reblog this or check out the link to my lil Etsy shop. Thank you❤️

Hurry up if you see anything you like 🥰
For only 2 more days there's a 30% off on my entire shop (about 150 handmade jewellery works) with no minimum of orders or cost at all (I fly for 2 weeks from the 16th). This is a great opportunity to get gifts for yourself or people you love while supporting a small business and art projects about mental health, disability, love, the climate emergency and queer gender and relationships.

#Mastodon#beer question of the day - off flavors that are expected.
Over the weekend, we received a refresher associated with an off-flavor that can be a red-herring but is allowed in some styles. An example is hops that produce a herbal or green tea flavor.
Is this something you'd tolerate, if you knew it was a feature and not a bug (as we say in tech.)?
Happy Birthday to the greatest drummer of all time, the legendary #NeilPeart of #Rush. He would've been 71 today. We miss and love you. Rest easy my friend. #Toronto#Ontario#Canada#Mastodon
