So I just tried the alias and move account thing from my first mastodon account over to this one.
Once I identified the right buttons to push (software forks with different ui issues), it was pretty simple. This is a very cool feature. It does require higher user knowledge but it provides some options I have seen from other platforms. #fediverse#calckey#mastodonsocial
@GayCookie I did. I found myself using it almost exclusively so I pulled the trigger. Also I am new to the fediverse (nov 2022) so I wanted to see how this feature worked.
Given everything—the whole history of the USA, where you have tons of photos of gleeful white people and their whole families posing underneath lynched, dangling Black people’s bodies—the very least I can do is raise a glass to that piece of garbage being gone. And you need NO permission nor need to justify yourself. Raise your glasses MFERS.
@popcornreel James Allen, author of *Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America & *creator of the website by the same name, had a traveling exhibition on the subject.
Visitors wondered about the people pictured witnessing these atrocities. They were told they were everyday, local people from the town and the surrounding area. Newspapers often announced an upcoming #lynching, much in the way a circus coming to town would be publicized.
Does Calckey support account aliasing / migration from Mastodon? I know that miskey doesn't seem to support it, but I haven't found whether or not it's possible with the calckey fork. #fediverse#calckey
@eoinoneillPDX Yup, it does... I've actually done it. My old account was on madison.social -- just follow the process as documented in the Mastodon docs.
But in case you won't visit link, here's a short version:
Step 1. You should have a website (or a social media account) that you own yourself (or a company that you work for).
Step 2. Go to your Mastodon's profile settings -> https://[insert here a link to your mastodon server/instance that your account on]/settings/profile
Step 3. Scrolldown to "Profile metadata" section, create a new label, fill label's name with "website" or whatever you want (some people puts "verification" or "verified" as name of label) and in label's value put a link to your website (or as was mentioned before a link your company's website our a social media account) .
Step 4. Make sure that your website has on a link to your Mastodon's account.
@writeblankspace What I would like to see is a teaser or a breadcrumb or previous msg to see what one of my notification msgs is in response to - I mean if it isn't a fav. or a reboost where its obvious - without blowing open the original thread.
#Mastodon has some issues with posts being visible between instances, I see.
Experimenting with accounts, it's not just which instance is visible from another instance – I'm seeing that many of an account's posts can be invisible.
Also for one of my bots @researchinator, which has 30+ posts, while the acct is visible, for some users only a couple of those posts are visible.
@ottaross posts can sometimes take a while to spread across instances (I sometimes see posts from slow instances arrive many hours later). I believe an admin has an egress queue they can look at.
