@HistoPol#FOSS means they can share when they follow the license rules. There are big, murky players in the #FOSS world, like Red Hat (owned by IBM), which has an implicit “your money is not welcome when you exercise your GPL rights” policy for years, and is making that explicit now. Implicit is, well, murky, but you can't do anything. Explicit is a clear GPL violation, and then the FSF community can do something.
Facebook and even more so Twitter are shitty places, indeed, and on purpose.
If we do not #BlockMeta, all but the largest instances will become hardly viable:

However, there are a lot of people (like me) whose content is just "words."
As I state in my #bio, I do not want my content to appear outside the #Fediverse.
#METAstasizing into this separate cyberspace with its rules through activity pub is, IMO, not ok for many people.
Many sought refuge from toxic corporate platforms. Apart from dome bots and an #algorithm, it is still people who are #racist, #misanthropic, intolerant, etc.
@empiricism@HistoPol@davetroy yes, but I mean not only as an instance. The answer was more for @HistoPol . Eben if the boss of his/her instance in one of the bros taking part in meetings with Meta after signing a NDA, as a single user can block the meta instances without to move to other instance.

I have opened your profile as you see. Then I select from the ... of a post, the option as in the picture
Another option, and that works in mas.to is after you have the list of instances. You have to put them in a CSV file.
Then you go to Preferences>Import and Export > Import
Then you select the "blocking list" as in the picture, and you import the list of instances and accounts to block.

I use it with some people, I like them, we have contact, but I don't want so see their content (their share adult content often).

Important distinction.
I think handling their content is less problematic than them getting access to mine.
