Not every fediverse user want to connect to Bluesky but for those that do, you can look into using Friendica. The next release will allow you to use your Bluesky account from within Friendica. Interact with Mastodon / Msskey / Pixelfed etc and Bluesky users together on one platform
Proofpoint Threat Research recently identified a campaign with emails from various senders that included subjects such as “RFQ”. They contained a OneDrive URL that triggered the download of a VHD when clicked. The campaign began on 1/17 and continued through 1/18 to include over 1,300 messages.
Today, I added a box of related/random collections - I must admit that the ones you created are fantastic. Collection names can be repeated since they are user-assigned. I added the option to mark a collection as official - those with the highest number of followers in a given topic and with a specific name can be marked and...
Regarding Collections: I'm wondering if it might be useful to allow transfer ownership of collections as well? Probably low priority, but this could be useful if:
The owner becomes inactive
A #kbin magazine or #lemmy community becomes problematic + has inactive moderators
Other magazines/communities become more/less relevant over time, thus the collection needing adjustments
Re 1:
Could be mitigated on kbin magazines due to magazine ownership transfers, however, may pose an issue on federated magazines from lemmy
Also could be mitigated by the creation of a new collection, hence probably low priority
Re 2:
Could be low priority in regard to certain magazines/communities becoming inactive over time, however, the chance to miss out on discussions and threads should possibly be considered
However, this is also mitigated by also creating new collections -- I just think people generally like to avoid migrating when followings settle in.
Transferring collection ownership could also be excessive/unnecessary? Thoughts? Does the status of an official collection change automatically based on the user count?
Also regarding collections: After following a collection -- going to a collection's page and attempting to unfollow is described as "delete". This may give off the wrong impression to unfamiliar users. Perhaps "unfollow", or "unfavorite" may be better suited? I also wonder if it may be more appropriate to have favorited collections appear at the top of the collections view so users can quickly find the collections they follow in order to avoid being buried by the popular ones. This could also potentially be solved by giving subscribed collections its own tab in the navbar next to magazines? Is that perhaps too many tabs in the navbar?
Anyways, thank you so much Ernest. I know some people were unhappy about /kbin's development progress for awhile, but I'm really glad I stuck with it. Despite the challenges that came your way, watching you get back into the swing of things and /kbin's growth has been a joy to be a part of. The consistent communication and having our feedback be heard is also a big plus. As always, looking forward to what else is on the way.
Edit: Also, really glad to hear you're prioritizing sustainability, balance, and a strong foundation for the future. I hope you're able to get the support you're looking for, so you can give this project the time and effort you think it deserves. It's clear you care a lot about this project.
The russians 🇷🇺attacked 19 peaceful towns and villages of the Zaporizhzhia region in the last 24 hours. A guided 🇷🇺 aerial bomb strike on the city of Orikhiv resulted in the death of a 31 year old policeman. 10 more people were injured. Over 114 🇷🇺attacks were recorded in total.
The thing is that #RSS is the best. Social media sites don't like RSS because it breeds independence. Which is exactly why #creators should be using and promoting RSS. You can whine about the #algorithm or you can work on freeing your self from its clutches.
While I would love each #Creator to have their own site where they host their stuff I think that #RSS might work with a minimal structure.
Many people have a central hub which links to all their profiles. The extremely minimal addition would be just a link to an #RSSFeed people can subscribe to.
If people #CrossPost content then the feed should have one entry which links to the different platforms (or your self hosted one).
There could be an actual page with embedded content as well.
A lot of people who had been regularly posting here in the #fediverse are missing now.
I know many of them are still active on #X (#twitter) and while posting here they were actually cross posting. I looked at a few of those accounts and found most of their posts here stopped around 180+ days ago. Probably the time when twitter made some restrictions to their #API usage that prevented people from #CrossPosting ?
@Roundcat
Probably yes. I'm not worried about what people use as primary platform. But I appreciate they were willing to share their views in #fediverse too.
Probably many are not aware, their #crosspost is not working now. I posted here with the hope that some of them might realise, seeing this.
And I'm not judging people based on their SM platform preference. Many on twitter don't subscribe to it's owners ideology, but are there becoz that's where the people with whom they communicate are.
@Deus
True.. it's a network effect. You need a large number of people with whom you interact on your current platform to move onto #fediverse, otherwise it makes little sense.
One of the reasons for many to #crosspost was to encourage others to move, but cross posting also has the disadvantage that people see you still active on the old place, hence don't bother to move.. it's a vicious cycle.
Same like asking people on whatsapp to use a more privacy focused app like signal or xmpp!
There’s a single statistic everyone in the world should know this summer: fossil fuel subsidies are ten times greater than climate finance.

Most of the interesting content is still on #Twitter, but the platform is unusable. Full of bots, trolls and Nazis (and physics deniers ofc) since the #ElonMusk takeover, the last straw was the implementation of a #RateLimit because the richest man on earth cannot pay his server bills. Still using, but for read only - the only button I'm still using is the block button.
Now there is #Threads by #Meta which is all you need to know. Other than on Twitter there is no way to avoid the algorithm and just see posts by those you follow. And they want all your data and more, because it's Meta. Not an option.
Will stick with #Mastodon even though it's still so quiet here compared to those other platforms.
Would love to #crosspost to Twitter at least but all the tools for this have stopped to work.
C'mon, peeps, if you're afraid to give up your fascist transphobic safety net, at least expand your audience with some alternate/backup sites to post updates.
I may be being stupid here but is there a way to click on an article/post and cross post it to another relevant group/magazine? I'd rather not have to copy and paste it all, it would help with community visibility if you could cross post from smaller communities to larger ones....
