The incredibly short piece of legislation gives no indication of how the new rules would affect paintings or sculptures that feature nude figures, or books that include descriptions or definitions of sexual conduct."

John La Rose was born in Trinidad and was a poet, essayist, publisher, filmmaker, trade unionist, and cultural and political activist. In 1966, with his partner, Sarah White, he set up one of the first Black British bookshops in the UK, New Beacon Books. His wide-ranging contribution to the struggle for racial equality and social justice, as well as cultural change, is unparalleled in the history of the black experience in Britain.

This is pretty remarkable from a Swedish perspective. Moesgaard Museum is one of Denmark's two biggest archaeological museums. When they exhibit metal detector finds, they will sometimes invite the detectorist to a photo studio, take a really good portrait, and display it prominently along with the detectorist's name and her finds!

I found this corner for contemplation in the Huntarian.

Exhibitions can sometimes be an overloading sensory experience, so quiet reflection spaces with comfortable seating are a great idea.
Pairing it with related reading material is an added bonus for those who like to dig deeper

Scientists plan ‘seaweed breakthrough’ to restore threatened species.

Seaweeds play a vital role in the modern world, but their existence is under threat.

As climate change, disease and invasive species puts the algae under pressure, an international team of scientists has just started work on a project to protect and restore seaweed stocks

Locals in the historic Fort Worth neighborhood were interested in the proposed Juneteenth museum ... but what they really needed was a grocery store, a health clinic and a pharmacy. Architects and civic leaders worked together to make the new site a part of the community.

It's both in-person and online, in French and English (with simultaneous translation) and features an excellent slate of speakers. Definitely worth checking out. @histodons
